    Look above.

Also with the thing about people scamming again. Tell me exactly how they will scam again with the rules abiding them from even accessing the market. Also it's the fact that they could do it again. Just because they could think about doing it again, doesn't mean that everyone would try and do it again, and even if the would want to they couldn't.

You seem very focused on this "not well known good person who gets banned for an old mistake made off-site". Yeah, there may be a few of those, but the fact of the matter is the vast majority of people banned aren't in that situation, but rather deserve to be kept off the site.

Edit - plenty of people still trade with a TwC. How would they scam again? Get someone else to browse for them / make a new account to browse the markets, then contact the seller from their new account that they've built up trust on, etc.

Not just mistakes off the site, but also old mistakes on the site, like in plznate's case. It's not just limited to this. What if they scam on here, and then really regret their decision? Why should we totally stop them from being able to come onto sythe and associating with other people? They will be back on very thin ice, and also have no chance whatsoever at ever scamming anyone again. I say that if they are willing to still come back after this, then why should we stop them?

Also as for your edit how would they even be able to browse the market section if the have a market ban? If your talking about having another person sell it for them, then couldn't they just do that while being banned anyways?

Lol, plznate is the perfect example of the current pardon system working fine. And you're just flat out wrong with the "no chance whatsoever at scamming anyone again".

Like I said before the pardon system doesn't seem like it's the most fair system. If you take a look the only people that have been pardoned are people like hahanerd, plznate, gohanforever. These are all people that everyone knows. I doubt there is one person on there that you don't recognize. Anyways while these people get there pardon accepted people like the ones I stated in a previous post get theirs denied. With the new system everyone would have a fair chance for sure.

I'm not talking about having another person sell anything for them. I'm talking about having another person (or more likely just doing it themselves on another account) browse the market for them, find them someone who is selling / buying something, etc. Evaders can do this now, but at least with the current system a ban evader would probably be a newly created account with few posts and no rep; with your suggestion they could be well known and fairly trusted.

I'm honestly not a fan of the way the current pardon system as implemented because you're right, the only people who are pardoned are the people the admins know and like, which isn't right. I see many users who committed less serious offenses having their pardons denied because know one knows who they are (although it's worth noting that the current pardon system, at least in theory, takes into account the contributions one has made to the site). I don't think that what you propose would be an improvement though, I think it would be much worse.

How could they be trusted with a trade with caution rank, and also a market ban. That's a huge caution for someone to to trade with them, so how would they even have trust in them? I've seen people around the forums with twc, and people say that they trust them, but most of the time in that case it was requested or something along those lines. Anyways trading with someone like this in the first place would be exactly like trading with a banned members. Also if they were caught trading with someone then they would be banned.

No it's not. Trade with caution says exactly what it looks like - use caution when trading with them. That's very different than **BANNED** which lets people know NOT to trade with them, because in the majority of cases being banned = having scammed.

This is a good point, but then again it isn't. How many people fit into this category, where they scammed so many years ago on another forum but still have the same IP and have managed to reform? And how do we even come to know that they scammed some member of his clan back in 06? I just don't think it's practical to change the whole system to be more loose because a small minority of people don't deserve a ban.

Besides, that's why every appeal gets read by multiple mods and admins. We want to give everyone as fair of a chance at stating their case as is possible. I'm sure someone who scammed many years in the past on a different website and has a good history of a small handful of trades here on Sythe will have a strong case for them, even without being able to list "User Educator obtained in Dec 09; $25 donor on Mar 10; etc." However, if they've scammed here many years in the past and have this weak of a case, I say (excuse my language) fuck 'em.

Then maybe we could have a different rank for people under these circumstances. Maybe a Do Not Trade rank?

Ban evading is a permanent ban and is unlikely to be changed in the foreseeable future.
