    Today's Birthdays

Today's Birthdays should not show an inactive users, for example for users who had not been logged in for 2-3 years,
or of the users who has a 50-100 post count.

There are many accounts on Sythe and we should see the birthdays only of the active users.

Noone cares when is a birthday of an user with 0 posts, which created his account long time ago and lever logged in.

I suggest this because there are many users shown in this section, so it is hard to notice an active member birthday.

Rate, Hate and believe in your fate.

I think the idea is more idealistic than possible, though I can be wrong. How will the system really tell the difference?

A section just needs a filter, yesm there are many other serious things to do, but this would help.

Propose how a filter would be implemented. Do you have any programming experience or know of any available plugins that would satisfy this? Is it currently possible to implement with the current system (or would something have to be created)?

If you are answering no to these questions then congratulations, you have developed a non-practical idea.

I honestly don't think it matters since most people don't wish them a happy birthday anyways :(

What does it accomplish? All it does it makes Sythe look like we don't care about inactive, new members. Just to note, it takes is 3-4 seconds to read all the names, and we can clearly see if we know a person birthday is on today. And truthfully, I do care if it's a person if a person with 5 post count has a birthday - they should be recognized no matter what they've done for the site.

Cosrob, I think he was talking about an account from like Oct 2008 who has 3 posts: all that person did was make the account to buy some RSGP and vouch, and has never thought twice about Sythe again. Yes, this person is just as important as yourself with your 3000+ posts, but he's simply never going to see the HAPPY BIRTHDAYS because he'll never logging in. I do agree that it's kind of a waste of space.

To be fair, it'd be more CPU intensive to check for each birthday then remove the inactive users than the normal method.

It'd create more harm than it solved.

It's an innate behavior of vBulletin. Pretty sure you can toggle Today's Birthdays altogether, but I know you can't specify which members to list if it is enabled.

That makes sense. Editing it would be fairly simple, but there is no point honestly.

Well that person was me a years ago. I joined in 07; tried to sell my account, failed and left. Came a couple month before the end of 2009 (not logging in once between then) and became a regular member. Even though I was not active then - I would still like people recognize that I'm actually part of Sythe.

I don't think the update would be very useful and since you can always just look through the list and see which ones you know (the active ones) and then just wish them a happy birthday. If it's easy to code in then I guess I support but it's not really needed.

Yeah, and not only about a Birthday section, the inactive users should be removed from this section, it would save the space, and incase any users would get back, it would be added, because there would be a filter, for example ''No login in 3 years'' so if a user would login, he would be added.

A system with many inactive information, does not give anything good, it is using a host space, plus options like ''search'' does not work properly when you try to find something with a keyword which is very popular in a forum.

As I said,it is not only about this section, the inactive users should be removed from using the particular sections, thanks.
