Unable to validate game version

I get this error when I installed WoW. I followed all the steps that they have on the website, nothing helped. Repair, reinstalled, no viruses, nothing interfering.

I called support and I waited on hold for like 20 mins and gave up, so I figured I would ask on here.

What can I do to fix this?

Some more info: Just the original game, I haven't purchased any other expansions yet. Tried a few things people have said on the wow forums, like running as a admin, running from 2 computer accounts at once.

 

Did you install the game with digital download or with the disc?

From what I have found online, it's pretty common.

Digital copy, I don't have the install cd/box anymore. It installed the whole game and every update...it was like 12gigs.


I did every thing it said to do on the link, and I found a post from a gm on the forums, and did everything he said to do

 

That typically happens if the game version you have is more recent than the server. Are you using a PTR or Cataclysm Beta client?

 

Honestly I have no clue about any of this stuff. I went to my account on battle.net and clicked download game 3 days ago. (not the trial)

How do you tell the difference? I'm a nub to this stuff.

The blizzard downloader looked like this, so I suppose it is Cataclysm? (I had this pictured before, It is finished downloading now)

That's the correct game version. I really don't know what could be wrong.

Post the contents of your realmlist.wtf file?

Maybe your network blocks logging in to wow? Open Command Prompt from Accessories in your Start Menu and type 'nslookup us.logon.worldofwarcraft.com', then press Enter and tell me what it resolves to (under the Non-authoritative answer)

It shouldn't be resolving to that. Either your network has stopped you using it, or your hosts file or routing tables direct it elsewhere.

Type "route print" at the command prompt and if under Persistent Routes: it says None, then it's not your routing tables. Then, type "type %systemroot%\system32\drivers\etc\hosts" and paste the entire contents of that file into here.

It must be your network that's blocking it for you. Are you renting property, or living on a campus?

 

We own the house and it is our internet. We had the internet hooked up/installed/whatever in June.
I can manage a majority of the options, online, what would I need to look for?

I have my firewalls disable, windows firewall and avg. There is one on my wireless network, but I have to wait till tomorrow to reset the password(I forgot it). Is it possible the firewall is causing that?

 

I have no clue what may be causing it, then. The problem is that WoW's logon server resolves to something.wite2.com or whatever, but I can't be sure how to fix it.

I guess I'll try to get ahold of Blizzard then, I called again about 30 mins ago, and yet again, I'm still on hold actually. Just now hung up as I type this, I'll call tomorrow, and I'll call my isp.

Just call them and don't hang up, you usually wait about 45 minutes.
