Is a persons height directly related with success?

This is a topic I have been interested in for a long time and would like to hear other peoples' opinions.

Powerful people have usually been portrayed as taller, bigger people. Everyone I have met who is very successful (CEO's, CFO's, etc.) are all tall, intimidating people. Therefor I have the reason to believe most people in higher positions are taller, bigger people. My reasoning behind this is because shorter people are sometimes intimidated by taller people, and respect them more. It may be the intimidation factor that leads people to higher positions. Since you intimidate people you are more confident, and can advance quicker in the ranks than other people.

So I present the question: Is a persons height/size directly proportionate with ones success? Has anyone else noticed this as well?

[I also added a poll for peoples heights, just to go along with the topic.]

Adolf Hitler was 5'9" and is arguably the most powerful leader this world has ever seen. I think manipulation and/or the ability to sway people is the only real factors someone needs to be powerful.

Another good thing to compare would be the intimidation factor differing from guys to girls. It seems girl generally prefer taller men, and yet aren't intimidated by them. Guys on the other hand may seem more intimidated, or give more respect, to strong, taller men due to different reasons.

They probably picked on people who were shorter and weaker than them. Or you could have just been a cool kid and had no reason to.

Yes hitler was an exception but he also promised world domination if he was elected. He promised lots of people better lives which made him a very likeable candidate. Once he had a whole army backing his cause and killed a few (exaggeration) people he became unstoppable. Everyone was to scared to try and defy him. The reason why he was likeable And powerful was because of his idea of a perfect world and promises of a better way of life.

    I'm 6'4 so I hope that's a good sign. :p

Honestly though I don't believe your size matters that much unless your a professional athlete. You may be a bit more intimidating but that wouldn't change your job or your chances getting it.

No. Gary Coleman is like 4'5. Innovation and determination with a bit of luck = success. Height doesn't really matter.

I'm 5'6 and yes, sometimes I am intimidiated by taller people, but I don't think it has anything to do with someone success.

I am slightly intimidated by taller people, but I am 6'4 so it doesn't happen often.
I don't think being tall is linked to success, my uncle is a very successful owner of a law firm and he is only 5ft something.
Most of the people I have seen in higher places aren't tall, but that may just be because I am tall myself.

I'm 5'11 but 16 so maybe I'll end up being over 6 feet tall (hope so).

I don't think it's heavily linked to success, even though I remember reading that for every inch taller you are you make an average of $400 dollars more a year or something.

    Short people live longer though

I hope it is! I'm 6'1 (almost!) and turning 15, so I hope to be taller :p

Even though I hope it is, in my mind I know it's not.

For everyone that says height isn't related to the success of some: put two people in a boss's office fighting for a promotion. They have similar personalities, work ethic, desire to excel, etc. The only difference is... their physical attributes. One is 5'7" and 120 lbs, while the other guy 6'3" 200 lbs. Who is the boss going to choose to promote? The man who looks fit for the job, and will sell the company the best.

Who says the 6'3" looks more professional? He could look like a hobo, and the 5'7" a clean cut god-man...

I'm 6'3", but I don't feel treated differently for it or anything. And I'm not particularly successful (yet). You'd have to draw a loooot of subjective statistics to try to find this out, there are so many variables as to how you'd go about defining success.

If the man did look like a hobo, the boss wouldn't have called him into the office to consider him for a promotion, let alone let him keep his job.
