Being able to "Like" or "Dislike" People's Posts and Threads

I know this isn't facebook but it's pretty convenient to instead of comment on someone's post or status, be able to just press a button to like or dislike it. I know facebook lacks the latter but if you were able to establish it, this would be a convenient way to rate threads and people's posts. Say someone has a lot of dislikes then that could make their rep go down? I thought very loosely about this as you can tell

 

We have a star rating system, so there's really no point.

 

Not a feasible addition to VB - there's no mods that will achieve anything similar to this idea. You also forget we rely on Matthew to do the majority of coding, and he's pretty darn stripped for time as is.

 

This still isn't a social networking site.

 

i'm tired of seeing it on fb. definitely don't want to see it on sythe.

It would be cool, but it's not exactly a needed update to keep the site going or make anything easier/cleaner.

Tacky and unneeded. It's a glorified support button or whatever they call them. Rep or yeah. No support.

Eh I was picturing more of what the Facebook function is - I've seen that mod that you linked implemented on other forums, and the way it's laid out and recorded is different.

 

If you really like someone you could just put their name in your signature?

Otherwise there is still the thread rating that people already ignore.

I don't think it's referring to whether you like people, more so if you like peoples posts.

He's only making a suggestion. Also, he's new to the site. Telling him leave the site because you don't like his suggestion is not giving him a friendly welcome is it.

It was removed for being abused (namely, members who were disliked by a large group of people had their posts persistently downrated). It will not be readded because we can't trust you to use it correctly.
