Eliminating all rares from the game...

well lets see here.... there are probably 30% of all santas on innactive accounts.... so that there leaves 70% active santas....now if you removed 50% of and left 20% price would greatly increase... supply and demand....the demand would probably stay the same or even increase....and supply would greatly reduce.... causing an extremely overpriced item

 

they wouldnt do anything becuase santas are rares wich mean they will never be produced again

 

This is good question, it would never happen. Kind of sick of everyone saying, chessy has 70% of santas... not even close, she has all the santa hats that people were willing to sell... its for fact that not everyone would try sell there santa, me for example have a mask set from classic that I got for about 2M total back in the day, would not sell it even if they went to 200M each, just sentimental value i spose.

 

They would just get really expensive and make the game suck more.

 

Which is why we hope it never happens, well I hope not anyway.

What if Jagex added thousands of Santas into the GE?

 

Would wreak havoc. Lol.

 

Jagex wouldn't really do anything. There will always be rare items in the game though. Look at people like zezima who had all the rares and has quit now so technically they are still in the game even though he doesn't play.

 

Or you could pretend to drop all of them except one and keep the rest secretly.

 

It will never happen. People still have rares from classic.

I love the thoughts everyone's putting into this but honestly, if I say inherited Chessy's account and JaGex didn't realize anything strange... I'd deeply consider dropping them ha. It's one small, sometimes involuntary in-game reaction like that would make you famous for the rest of Runescape's history...

 

You don't need to drop them. Just don't trade them.

Prices are not affected by items in existance, but by items in trade. For instance untradable items have absolutely no market value, not because they arn't rare or easy to get, but because nobody trades them.

The ones that are held in lv 3 accounts from 2004 or whatever don't affect the price at all because the owners arn't looking to sell them, either because they don't want to or because they quit RS.

Simply buying all the rares that are currently being sold and holding on to them will cause the demand (and thus the price) to skyrocket. Little by little rares will continue to appear on the market from other people who have been gone for years or just holding on to them.

 

Why would you want to drop all those santa hats? To earn maximum profit, just keep them; they'll still rise the same amount as long as you don't trade them.
