    Should go with the money?

Well im going to be enrolling in college soon, but I honestly have no clue what I want to do with my life. Im thinking of going for a Degree in Business Administrations. I know that I could provide a good future for myself and my family and could even get a job after 2 years of college and continue my Schooling while holding down that job. But I have absolutely no interest in business. But on the other hand it would provide me a stable job with an o-k paycheck at the end of the week.

I've also considered just going for general studies but I feel as if it would be a waste of two years. Any suggestions?

If you can bare the same boring thing that you don't like to do while making good money every day for the rest of your life, go for it. But I suggest finding something you like and do that, good luck.

Do you really want to do something boring the rest of your life?
    Ask yourself that question.
Find something you enjoy and then excell in that subject.

Don't go for general studies. Find something you like and specialize in it.

You're nothing without money. Do what you must. Suck it up for few years then switch to what you want to do.

Why don't you just go with general studies to start off as. There are plenty of jobs that pay just fine w/o a business diploma. Hopefully, after the time of your general studies you'll know what you want to do..

Why not take an aptitude test and see what they say? Not as a specific job, just as an idea.

Also, don't do a job that you hate. "go with the money it's a job, not a hobby." You'll be spending a lot of your own time at a job. If you have your job, you may very well hate life.

Honestly do what you feel comfortable with. You will be at your job for many years to come and you don't want to be stuck in something that your absolutely dread. You could try to do that short-term to get some starting cash and then work with what you really enjoy. Basically what I;m saying is don't go into something you hate, you only get one life so spend it wisely.

You should go with what you enjoy, you don't want to work at a corner shop and find yourself bored all the time - just go for business, good luck.

Find something you would enjoy doing for the rest of your life. If you aren't all that into business administration don't waste the money on it.

On a side note, do you know exactly what kind of job this would lead to? The economy is bad right now so getting a job may be harder.

I don't want to repeat what anyone else has said, But three things you should think about.

1.) Career paths, for you to become 'successful', you're going to have to try and find a secure pursuit for a career, be it from any subject.
2.) Taking a job your not going to like may be something you have to accept, following what you enjoy will not mean you'll get a good job, I love gaming, but pursuing a gaming career? unlikely.
3.) Money, Money turns the world, make sure the career you're following is a good paycheck, especially if you're studying a degree.

If i was you, I'd go for a subject that Im good at + leads on to better-related jobs, for example. I enjoy psychology, which leads on to criminology, I can then study to be a crime scene investigator. or Criminal psychologist, good paying jobs.

    Should go with the money?

I have no idea what some of the people above are talking about....

At the end of the day, the world is not fair. You can strive to pursue something that you like to do but will happiness pay the bills and fulfill basic needs like food and a home?

Yes, sometimes you will get lucky and actually get something that you like to do and make money but you have to look closer. What I can suggest to you is to:

    (1) Talk to your guidance counselor - If you are in school, you can always talk to them and ask for advice. They make a living by giving advice to troubled and indecisive students like yourself.

    (2) Relax - It's okay to not know what you want to be when you grow up. I know an abundance of people who have no idea what they want to be and they're currently attending college.

    (3) Look deeper - Though a career in business might be profitable, it isn't always the best and fun choice. There must be other subjects that you would like to pursue and would love to find out more about. Sometimes you have to think real hard and make connections. As .Karl said above, if you like psychology and learning about how people think, you might enjoy a career as a crime scene investigator as you have to know how people think in order to succeed.

    (4) Prioritize - You make the decision. If you value money and personal and family security, pick a high-paying job. If you value happiness, pick an enjoyable job. If you're lucky, you can get both. Consider the aforementioned suggests.

    Best of luck!

    Should go with the money?

    According to who?

OT: I suggest taking a personality test online. I took one keeping in mind a rough idea of what I thought I'd like to do as a future career, and funnily enough, the suggested jobs at the end were what I was thinking of.(The career paths recommended are based on your personality test results) It was scary how accurate the results were for me. Whatever you decide to do, do not do something you don't enjoy. As Harvey McKay said.. "Find something you love to do, and you'll never work a day in your life".

I would not recommend "General Studies" unless it was a one year thing, and then went on to specialise in something afterwards. But I wouldn't go for something you have no intrest in whatsoever either, it may be worth taking an hour if you havn't done so and look at absolutely everything the college has to offer.

and JohnK atleast link us the test :p
