Am I related to anyone famous?

I was born on April 19, 1997 and my full name is Thomas Arthur Smith, I was born in Lewisham. Any ideas?
Just curious.
If you can't help here, do you know how I can find out?

 

I don't think there is a site for that, but have you tried asking around your family about a family tree, or any interesting facts about them?

I asked my grandmother and she told me her cousin married the president of Peru at the time.

Ancestry.com is your best bet to find out. It is quite expensive though. Otherwise I don't know of any other way to find out besides going out and looking it up yourself.

 

Just go talk to the oldest family member you have and ask him/her to remember the oldest person they can remember and go from there. Usually you can google but since your name seems sort of common, try googling the name of a relative with a unique name and looking for stuff about their family or whatever.


EDit:For as long as I've been told and known, I am related to some biblical people. Nun, was an Egyptian slave and his son Joshua from the Book of Joshua. If you believe in all that stuff. Nun is not my last name because my great grandmother married out of the name.

 

I think I may be related to someone who used to serve with Hitler in WWI.
and I may be somehow related to the communist president of Czech.
This doesn't classify as famous but I'm closely related to a professor of archaelogy.

 

Richard & Brian Arthur Smith is a possibility.

 

Well yeah, I mean down the line you got to be related to somebody famous.

 

Why are you so keen in knowing if your related to someone famous?

I'm 13.
I'm curious if any of them invented anything as my friends great granded invented dissolvable tablets.
There could be a small fortune lurking somewhere but I really just want to tell my friends.

As others have said, Ancestry.com would be your best bet, but don't underestimate Google. You'd be surprised what you can find on there spending a few minutes searching.

 

One of the biggest problems for you will indeed be your last name, it's very common, and the Smith's aren't all related. Your best bet would be to find the oldest family member you know, and ask her if he/she knows anyone who did something special in their lives. Don't try those websites, first-hand witnesses are much better than any information a website can give you.

By the way, is your friend's great-grandfather William Upjohn? He was the one who invented the dissolvable tablet. If he is, that's actually a pretty big contribution to the world.

 

I'm not sure of his name, I'll ask him, but my friends name is Billy, and it's named after one of his family.
