Worst Weekend Ever

My mom is being a fucking asshole. I am so fucking mad. I wanted to go to a Halloween party at my friend's house on Sunday and instead my mom is making me go to church on Sunday for the morning service. Then be with some retarded kid I hate the rest of the day. Then in the afternoon she wants me to go to the afternoon service. I have no idea what to do. My whole weekend is officially ruined. I hate how she makes me go to church. I hate church and I think it's super boring. Then when I tell her that she gives me a 2 hour speech about god! I'm 14 btw

 

Chill out, Church never hurt anyone. But religion shouldn't be forced on anyone, i agree. Also, why not just go out on saturday and have a good time with your friends? I mean Sunday isn't your whole weekend.

 

What this guy said. Sorry that you can't go to Halloween party, but thats what parents do sometimes. Hang out with friends on Saturday. Im Christian and dont go to church much, and I've had this happen to me before.

 

Parents should not force their kids to go to church.
Just go to your party anyway.

I'm really sorry to hear this. But she's only doing her job. She wants you to be a good christian when you grow up (don't think i'm christian). She wants what is best for you and therefore she is trying to help you become active in church activities. You're too young to say you don't want to do it (of course you can say it right now, but it will have many unwanted consequences and it will end up ruining your relationship further). Just wait until you're old enough to make your own decisions. Sacrifice is part of life

 

When you move out you might have a choice but I guess that is just your parents religion and you will just have to go along with it.

 

I disagree, this shouldn't be forced upon you, but I'd understand if she wouldn't want you going to the party considering you're only 14. You're being a little ignorant, but I understand. I'd be mad after a week of work/school to have to look forward to a shitty weekend you want nothing to do with.

 

The way I see it, you have two choices.

a) Humor your mom by attending her archaic traditional ceremonies despite the fact that you gain nothing from attendance.
b) Have a serious discussion with her about this and explain that you don't find it interesting, and/or feel that you gain nothing from attending them. If she gives you a long speech, don't zone-out, actually think about what she is saying, and respond appropriately. If you feel that she's being inflexible, tell her so. Many problems are the result of mere poor communication between parties.

Just refuse, because in the end, she doesn't want some rowdy teenager pissed off at church causing trouble and making her look bad. or you can reason with her and only go to the first service. I mean, halloween parties don't start until later in the day anyway. have her think of it like a compromise

 

You can do one of two things.
1.) Complete ignore her, and take the consequences later.
2.) Actually do what she says, and she may let you go to the Halloween party a little bit later.

 

Walk out of church, get to your friends house, take the punishment.

Or sit through it.

Why don't you come to a agreement like if you go mass in the morning then take the "kid" with you to the Halloween party in the afternoon I'm pretty sure they won't have punch & candy to last the whole day.

Part of growing up is rebelling against your parents. They can't kick you out of the house until you're 18. If you are strong minded you will skip your church bullshit and enjoy your sunday how you want it. Your parents will probably flip a shit and punish you, but just keep breaking their rules and eventually they will realize that they can't change you and will stop wasting their energy getting mad at you all the time and just stop caring.
