Well all they can really go off of are the IP logs.

Maybe the problem could be resolved by using a proxy?
Like, I live in Korea and want to share an account with someone in the US.
Just use a proxy whenever I log in, hence leaving behind a US IP?

I don't think that would end in a ban?

 

Proxies don't work with Java.

well, just do account sharing on another account for a month or two, see the results and base your idea on that. give it a trial run on another account, and play a lot between the two of you, and see how it turns out. imo.

 

I got muted for 1 day for saying I share my account. The offence was account sharing. I have proof if you want.

To what extent had you shared accounts?

 

It happened to me on an old account because I was doing it. Basically I logged on from this side of the world and then my friend from the other so the ip would switch 1-2 times a day. Took about 2 weeks and then the account was locked. I successfully unlocked and we are still playing on it today with no problems.

EDIT: I didn't receive and blackmarks or mutes during the whole process.

 

Yeah like I said it's a mute and you need to be reported for saying it, doubt they are gonna go through IP logs of thousands of accounts to see who is sharing or not and it really isn't much of big deal either.

i dont think its that bad, i shared an account for about 1 year. he was in the states and i was in asia

 

Hardly ever happens. It's usually from saying "I bought this account" or "This is my sisters account" or "My brother went on my account yesterday".

 

I've been sharing alot of account's with people across the world and just mate's in the same town, nothing has happened the account has stayed unlocked/Unbanned and no warning's.

Though i suggest just don't talk about it ingame which is the obvious thing not to do. you should be alright to share your account

 

I doubt they check all the players IP's, don't you guys think that would take a long time? Maybe that's why it took them a year to lock your account? Or maybe they have a different method...?

 

If you live near each other, you are ok.

I got banned for 3 days for account sharing a while back, and because the i.p's were within 20miles of each other, they let me off.

It was me, and two of my friends all sharing one account.

If you are more than 20miles or a country away, you have no chance :L.

 

don't really know i bet they can see if 1 account logges several times in on multiple accounts. but they wont be fast with checking it because of the amount of accounts. but you can indeed test it with an other account. and never but never talk about sharing botting etc ingame thats when you get reported etc .

and about proxys i saw a firefox proxy addon who does load java but you have to google it i thought it was FoxyProxy but im not sure about it

 

Basically, Jagex can search a username and get all IP's used.

This includes the ISP and IP's location, not your physical location.

They have to be careful as some ISP's hardware proxy their customer's request through the same IP's, and in some cases some ISP's give you a different external proxy IP every time you load a page.

You can use a VPN to connect to the server and again, Jagex will only see the VPN's IP address.

But when you connect it also sends a client ID so it should be pretty easy to be honest, as literally all they'd need to compare is the IP state, the IP & the client ID.

It should be instinct that when this changes, something's going on... especially when the logins are within minutes of eachother >_<

People do not get muted for the act of account sharing they get muted for actually saying in-game that they share their account with some one, then some one reports you and that leads to a mute. If you had not said anything about account sharing in-game you would have been fine. Just to make that clear

 

it's very rare, but i would assume that if two people are playing it that live in different states and jagex has evidnece of you saying that your sharing your account then your account will be locked. but there are ways around it, like you can say you travel for work for example.
