    Laptop ideas?

Seeing the thread about the best computer brand made me start to think about this. When I graduate high school, I'm a senior now, as a graduation gift my parents will get me a laptop. I'd like to be able to game a little on it, but also do it for school and photoshop.

Any suggestions on what would be the best thing for me to get? Price range around $1,000.

    Thanks =]

^^ Definitely my recommendation. The XPS series is all around impressive if you ask me. I have a desktop I have a friend with one of the laptops. They are both phenomenal. There is also a very wide price range that will suite most people as well.

If you're not a gamer, I highly recommend a Macbook Pro. Yes, you are sacrificing top of the line specs for sleekness, name brandedness, and hype, but what people don't realize is that the Mac OS is improving each and every day and I don't think anyone can deny that Apple offers an extremely decent level of user friendliness and some of the best applications are made for OSX and Windows, if not OSX only.

    Thanks, I've saved that page.

Only problem is I am somewhat of a gamer, therefor I've pretty much ruled out macs. Although I do agree, they are a very solid computer.

    Is Alienware any good?

Alienware is greatly overpriced. I recommend the new Dell XPS 15, it has awesome specs (maybe to awesome as it will probably overheat) and comes at a very competitive price.

Try ASUS, they have decent laptops for gaming. :) Better then Alienware though.

I have only heard that Alienware is good, but overpriced. You should have no problem finding a decent computer with that price range. The laptop I am using is an HP with 6 gigs of RAM and a 300Gig hard drive...which was only $500 USD at Best Buy.

    I just bought a HP dv5
It has a 14.5" Screen which I like because I am not a fan of big laptops
It has a 500gb hard drive
    4 gb ram
    a 2.4ghz i3 Processor
    Back lit keyboard
    It's very slim and sleek
I got all this for $700

    I would recommend this laptop
