What does it take to get your account locked / banned for 'Account Sharing' ?

It hasn't happened to me, but I'm curious.

 

Multiple logins from different addresses from other countries?

 

I think getting reported for talking about it. As in being caught in a clan chat talking about sharing the account, then being reported and Jagex checking conversation.

 

I used to share a friend's account with him and it took nearly a year of daily logins from IPs accross the pacific to get it locked for account sharing?

So idk how efficient they are at checking the IPs?

 

Maybe they don't check often therefore it being a rare offence.

 

Also, could anyone confirm what the consequences are for being caught 'Account Sharing' ? Is it locked account, 3 day ban, 2 week ban, or perm ban?

 

I am pretty sure it is a temp ban not sure how long for though.

 

I think you get a mute for account sharing actually, I remember seeing it somewhere and I don't think you can really get infracted for it unless you talk about it ingame (explains the mute), I have been sharing my account with 2 friends for about 3/4 years now... No ban.

 

So do they check IP logs or not?

 

it's a perm banned, on top of that, it is an ip ban-banned 4 of my 7 accounts in one go today.... gf fagex

 

I doubt any of that is true lol.

Also I doubt they ever check IP addresses and even if they do how can they tell that you are not playing from different locations? so I'm guessing talking about it is the only way.

 

I'm pretty sure JaGex don't ip ban unless you exploited a glitch/bug like the people who duplicated phats or the falador massacre.

i have been sharing my accout with my close friend for nearly 4 years now. he has logged on and done quests, made money and even skilled, hes done the lot. hes even recovered and changed the pass (with my permission) and i havent been banned/locked. i have also done the exact same thing for his account, no bans/locks. i have even logged into other accounts of mine while he was on and told him to hop off the acc so i could go on.

either jagex are derps or im really lucky.

How far apart do you and your friend live, Jtag?

If it's in the same town/area then that would explain the lack of ban.
If it's across the pacific Jagex might notice faster?

 

I don't think theres a actual punishment for account sharing besides your account being locked. And I believe they removed account sharing from the report menu.

 

uhm different town but same state. we live like an hours drive from eachother.

 

Then you're not going to get banned if you live that close.

 

Your IP's will point to the same region, lol. Hence no ban.

My real question concerns IP's from locations several thousand kilometers apart, and a logging in every 2nd or 3rd day from the distant IP.

 

The question is to what level will JaGex go to find if you're actually account sharing.
