How does it feel to have responsibilities and to take care of yourself? I'm real curious because I turn 18 in a couple of years, and I feel like I'd be lost if I was in the world alone.

It pretty much sucks to grow up. Enjoy being a minor while you can.

Why does it suck so much? I'd assume it'd be more adventurous since you're pretty much free to do whatever you want.

    Responsibilities=Time=Less Free Time

I'm sort of exaggerating to say it sucks. Life is life, you have ups and downs.
Getting older means you have more responsibilities. When you screw up, it stays there. The consequences are more severe and long-lasting. But the freedom and satisfaction that comes with it isn't bad. Just don't be an idiot :D

More expectations, more things apply to you.

You're free to do more things. Other than that, shit hits the fan, unless you have $$$.

Well, it really depends on your lifestyle. If you're the partying it up type of person, then I guess being 18 has some advantages. But you start to realize you're no longer responsible for yourself. Reponsibility of family hits you. Responsibility of your future hits you. I never thought I'd ever take my studies seriously. But now, I am up until 2-3 am every day doing reading (Mind you, took me a year of slacking to learn my lesson).

With freedom comes responsibility. Don't do anything you would later regret.

    ps whens your bday?

Depends if you were taken care off by your parents. I'm 19, a full-time university student and to be honest, I don't really feel like I have any other responsibilities other than being in school and doing well, not until I am out and need to find a job of course.

I'm only 17 But I turn 18 in about 6 Months, and I'm already experiencing the challenges of getting older, some of it sucks some of it's great, what I like about it is you get to make some of your own choices, but those choices effect you more then ever.

Now that I am no longer a minor the most daunting thing to me is that I can be tried and jailed as an adult - I could do something wrong as a kid and not face very harsh consequences, yet now if I'm at a party and the police arrive I can be locked up as opposed to just being taken home.
I thought being able to buy my own alcohol would be awesome and liberating, but it feels like nothing has changed - before my sister would just get it for me instead. Plus this is my final year of high school; I go to University next year and it's hugely more intense.

You don't need to be 18 to take care of yourself and have responsibilities. Unless you are a spoiled brat who gets everything handed to him, in which case nothing will change when you turn 18.

Regardless of whether or not your spoilt or in any situation - things DO change when you turn 18. Voting, Drinking, Smoking, Driving in some places, Events, Clubs, the Law, and a whole lot more.

To be honest, I'm not looking forward to 'growing up' either. It's so easy at high school, being a teenager, doing whatever because you dont have any responsibilities. Then you finish your schooling and enter the real world. Older people tell me thats when your life ends. Eventually you'll end up in a suburban routine lifestyle where it is basically the same thing every week, same people, nothing new and on top of that you'll have to deal with the stress of children also.
Yay I cant wait to grow up.

I turn 18 in a year and 7 days, but I'm going to be moving to a dorm for college in 9-10 months and I can't wait. I'll take on the extra responsibilities in order to live by myself and whatnot. It just seems when you're older, you can do more.

Well..not much has changed for me besides more freedoms (buying certain things and getting into certain places, and more legal st00f) but I have yet to move into my own place, which I am sure will be a challenge. But, as for more responsibilities, not much has changed, I had a job before I was 18, and still have it :'(

It pretty much feels the same to be honest. Aside from the bills and bars.
