I don't really like the Tampa team but I like Lecavalier and St-Louis mostly because they are from Quebec but I also like Stamkos which is a very good player.

I think Stamkos will be the best player in the NHL in 3-4 years

I think Stamkos is a great player, but is below Crosby and Ovechkin. He's more on a Malkin or Kovulchuck level.
My rangers lost again today :(.
And man, thos Devils are horrible! :)

I disagree, I think Stammer is on the same level as Crosby and Ovvy. Last year's stats alone can prove that..

    Stamkos & Crosby - 51 goals
    Ovechkin - 50 goals

Since Ovechkin and Stamkos play in the same division, I think this will become a HUGE rivalry over the years since they play each other 6 times a year and is already a pretty good rivalry.

Agreed, Stamkos had a great year last year, almost as good as Crosby in his second year (11 points behind him, Stamkos had more goals but Crosby had like 84 assists) and better than Ovie in his second year. He is bound to have a good year this year, and I almost can guarentee that he'll be as good as, if not better then Crosby and Ovie in the upcoming years.

I agree with you that Stamkos is good, but I'm not sure if he's a generational talent like Crosby or OV. He'll have to repeat what he did last year to prove that to me

    1994 Rangers, you'll see

Stammer has 9 points (5 goals) in 5 games this year

Also do you guys think either Ovvy, Crosby, Stammer, or anyone else will break Gretzky's record of 50 goals in 39 games? I think its definitely possible but a lot harder because the goalies are A LOT BETTER now..

Theres no way anybody will break that record. The NHL is much tougher, more physical, has better goalies, and is more grueling than ever before. This is one of the records I think nobody will break.

Who knows? Maybe some god-like hockey player will be found in the middle of nowhere, Russia and recruited into the NHL and is amazing. Theres no way to tell the future, but it's bound to happen eventually.

Yeah I guess you're right. What you said made me think about another thing; How hard it is to make it into the NHL. People are playing in highschools, colleges, Russia, Sweden, Finland, Chech,Canada, and even juniors. It must be one of the toughest sports to get into.

You get competition from all over the world so it is pretty hard, and there is only 30 teams with a limited amount of roster spots.

Yeah a lot of goals scored last night. I really think the lightning will finish higher than the Caps in the East this year.

What also surprises me is how much attention the NHL is getting on espn. Usually we get about 30 seconds of attention only showing Crosby, or OV's highlight reel goals. Lately they've been showing more highlights of games, and had 2 or 3 top 10 plays last night. I think it has to do with the NHL's contract expiring this season with NBC and Versus, so they're probably out looking for a contract. NHL on espn, like the old times, would be great to attract more fans to the game

I hope NHL moves to ESPN that would be amazing and Stamkos gets a hat trick and leads the league in goals and points!

NHL on ESPN would be awesome! And Stamkos is amazing so far this year. Looks like he's proving me wrong and can keep up the play from last season.

Who do you think is going to win the rookie of the year award this year? I personally thought Hall would win it at the beginning of the year, but so far Derek Stepan for the Rangers has been great. People have been calling him the next Messier, he seems to be one of the smartest hockey players i've seen play.

Stars don't just come out of nowhere. Even Crosby and Gretzky had media attention when they were twelve. John Tavares, last year's #1 pick, had coverage since he was 14, which was when I started to watch him. If there is going to be another NHL star, we'll know years in advance.

Im going to agree with you on this. Yeah some players are found out and scouted later on but the truely great ones are found when they're still very young. I found this video of crosby on youtube when he was only 14.
I'm not sure how to add it so it can play in the thread but heres the link if your interested http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R2z6ApUEuQ8
