Do NOT be paranoid of randoms.

I usually bot 3+ accounts almost all day with breaks while I quest / work on other accounts by hand and I am usually always in the same clan chat. It is filled with mods and they were just talking one day and admitted to the whole cc that randoms are NOT that random. They are solely based on EXP. If they think you are getting too much exp / hr they will put you into a random. A random event does not mean they are 'watching' you.

Sorry if anyone already knew this, but I had it confirmed by a mod recently and I was reading through some posts in this section and someone made it very clear that they thought they were being watched because of the number of randoms they were getting.

 

Wow! Thats news to me, at least now I know why I am always getting randoms!! But.. what about when you loggin and do not do anything and still get randoms? Thats happened to me many times, or logged in and right away was put into a random.

 

It actualy was proved in first bonus exp weekend, when randoms occuried every 10 min, since you were getting high exp.

 

I can't explain those instances. I doubt it's because they're watching you though.

Maybe you just haven't had one in a certain time period or something.
I'll ask once the nice mods get on later, lol.

 

It's true, although some times I think they do "flag" or watch people more then others. There have been times when botting soulwars and not really gaining a lot of exp that I have gotten randoms every time I leave. Mostly it is based off of exp though.

 

Well if I corp and get not so good xp/h and get randoms every hour or two on not botted account, and I get like 1 random/day on 24/7 account.. what then?

Makes sense, because you get way more randoms at rock crabs than you would say, runecrafting.

 

THat's probably why there's a lot less randoms while, say, runecrafting than woodcutting or cooking or firemaking.

 

I can confirm that, when I was doing trouts+salmon I got tons of randoms, when I switched to sharks I could go 10 hours without a random

I guess I agree that it's true to some extent.
I remember when I was doing wines, and allowed over 1k of them to accumulate before allowing them to ferment. Instant 230k xp or so. Also got a random instantly.

So yea. It does make sense that it's proportional to your xp gained.
But it would also have to be proportional to the task you're doing, no?

 

I stopped botting on one of my account cause i got 2 in 3 hours but now Im good thanks.

When I bot on my barrows pure, alching for 75k p hr, I literally NEVER get randoms. On my 10hp mage pure, I get a random almost every second alch ^_^ I can't make sense of it, but this theory is intriguing.
