WTF should i do.

Right, My life feels pretty fucked at the moment, im not emo or anything but it just seems fucked to me.
Im away to turn 19 I've been at college for 3 years now studying engineering Problem is I seriously don't like it, It's boring and tedious and I don't find it interesting at all.

Should I Stick it out and try get something out of it, Or quit and look for something I'd like to do.

Im thinking about moving into an electrical side of engineering Which might be more interesting and you get more money once your qualified and working. The college is also based somewhere else and you get your own room and shit which I've always wanted to do because i think it'd be funny as hell.(Through all the American College movies lol) So yeah, What do you think I should do or what would you do? Im completely confused at the moment.

I would just like to get a job and start saving but there are no jobs currently because of the recession and shit they've put a hold on apprenticeships.

Im from the UK btw.

I used to do civil engineering in college, I completed two; one year courses and I was taking my third when I thought god dam, I don't want to be doing this in the future, all though it's great pay I would rather be happy and take a different route rather than be slightly wealthy but hate my job to bits.

I left and did a different course and now my life is going great

Im still unsure, I don't know what i would like that's the problem, I have no real hobbies other than going out at the weekend drinking and driving around through the week. I have no idea what i wanna do it's annoying, My dad doesn't help repeatedly telling me to get a job.

If you do not like your career then i would suggest something else. Why spend your life doing what you hate when you can spend it doing what you like?

 

personal experience:
well, i looked at doing engineering after i left school. i ended up doing a full time traineeship as tech support in a school, defiantly a good option. money is pretty good, and free training + i love my job!

You should only being going to college to learn about something you are interested in. Don't major in something just because you will make great money. It will make you happy in life to do something you love not having a lot of money.

 

Mm, i didn't go for engineering, but i had the same issue as you. I was going towards a career in radiology. I questioned myself during one semester, what hell am i doing this for? I lost all interest and wondered why i even chose it, what was the motive? I just wanted to take my clothes off and run free out of the class, you know?

I'm currently going to be taking a bunch of 1 year certificate programs or some associates so i can have different options and better chances of getting a job.

Do what works out for you, or what truly interests you. Hell, if you just want to get a job now then do so, and pursue something later. Schools always going to be there. Hell, sh*ts a business now.

 

I'd talk to your dean, or whomever you'd go to to talk about transfers and stuff.

Ask them about different routes you can take, to do something you'd enjoy, yet still be able to use credits and experiences from the classes you've taken for the past 3 years.

I went thru the basic course of Civil engineering and it didn't look to great.

It's great here you get a car from the government+ other shiz + good pay.

( You work for the government if you do Civil in Aus.

Anyway I'm studying I.T atm and looking forward to a job.

I think you should never do something you don't like doing.
Especially if it involves your career. You don't wanna be stuck as an engineer if you don't like it...
I'd say go into what you really wanna do. Remember, anything is possible if you have the right mind set.

 

You don't want to be doing it now and your not going to develop liking it if you have to put yourself through it each and every day in the future. The faster you switch and find something your interested in, the better of your going to be. No need to put yourself through 30+ years of working doing what you hate.

 

Thanks for all the comments, I've been thinking about it a lot and came to conclusion Im just going to finish up at college and get what i can, Look for a job in engineering if that doesn't work out after my 4 year apprenticeship I can easily go into something else and have a trade behind me to fall back on. Seems like the safest way

Quit. Find something interesting to do. Since you don't like it, you would eventually give it up at some point, better do it earlier than later.
