Whats college like?

can som1 tell me what college is like? i want to go but somethings telling me not to

Go to college, it is amazing. You will instantly notice the differences from high school. Everyone is more mature, you have more freedoms, etc. The work may be harder, but it is definitely worth it in the end.

 

School is so much more laid back, less class time, more time put on you. More free time, no idiot little kids trying to act like hardasses.

I think if you take it seriously and put in the effort, college is a very fulfilling experience. It allows you to meet new people and look at things from a different perspective. Obviously the long-term career benefits are there as well.

People are much more accepting in colleges/universities. A lot of people who really were social outcasts in high school tend to find it a lot easier to socialize and meet people with similar interests. I would go as far as to say you can't even compare High School to University, because the social dynamic is so different. There's no one group of popular people, there's no social hierarchy. Do yourself a favour and sign up.

 

Dependes on the college i guess, going to a big time unversity and dorming freshmen year is awesome your soicial life will explode and the partys with people on your dorm floor and all the surrounding house parties are awesome. just make sure you meet everyone on your floor if you dorm, and my classes are kinda hard, but its not bad.

 

College is so much better than school, you get treated like an adult, get to meet new people, and its a better learning experience.

You get as much out of college as you want to really. High school is complete shit and basically pointless. College lets you study what you want and such. Plus, it will help out your life massively, so just go.

 

It's my first year in college but i can say its so much better than high school, and I'm only attending a community college. I bet a university would even be better.

The work is harder, as some have said, but the fact that its a lot better than any school you've ever experienced and you can get a job doing something you like makes it a easy decision to go.

One word: too much free time.

 

This. I literally workout after class and then go home and watch tv until I get tired. Plus there are SOOO many hot girls there you'll be overwhelmed and it's a lot easier to talk to them in Uni/College than in High School. People are a lot friendlier in post-secondary because they study what they want (for the most part).
Don't waste the best years of your life; enroll in College.

 

MY experience is very different from above. Yes you can pass first year with both hands on your balls.... but here's a (my) more realistic experience. (Obviously depends a lot on your circumstances etc).

- many people i know have dropped out
- many others are not even half way through their degrees
- no money sucks balls, especially when your working friends have money to burn (you can't work many hours and study full time)
- your GPA & connections will matter when it comes to employment, if you want to excel academically your going to have to work fucken hard (60+ hour weeks studying in later years)
- there is little help available (your not hand led like school)
- I spend a fuck load of my time confused out of my brain.
- their is still plenty of douche bags in university
- I know have a great big debt payable to my name

Not trying to fear monger you, just letting you know university/college can be very different from the stereotype. It's still a good experience and is an incredibly useful qualification. But by far the greatest tool taught is a disciplined mind, the qualification simple acts as evidence of that. The knowledge you gain is very limited, I know enough to know I don't know shit.

feel free to disagree, just what i experienced (I have just finished my undergrad ~ doing 1 more subject for professional recognition)

(and yes the females are awesome, it's like ass soup somedays ~ but if your a horney devil go for health/creative industries or something more girly, stick clear of IT and even enginering (complete sausage fests)

If the college that you plan on going to has a nursing program, BAM! your dreams will come true.

Make sure you're willing to do your work and accomplish something. Make sure you know what you're going for as well. I have no clue what i'm going for and i'm failing some classes because i'm not too motivated to do my work, even with 4 days off, but filled with work. Tbh, i'd rather just work for a year or two than come back.

 

its the exact same thing you advance 1 grade every year think of it like grade 13 after 12...

BUT THE MAJOR CHANGE IS... DEADLINES ARE FINAL

Perks... you can leave class anytime... lectures are boring sometimes so you can do stuff on your laptop while in class because most of the things the professor talks about is on the website and you can review at home... umm your treated as an adult?

 

To be honest, I totally breezed thru college. On my last year I didn't even buy the books and I skipped a lot.

Do not do this. Sure it is fun, but it ends up sucking at the end.

I passed with all C's and got my bachelor's but I know absolutely nothing about any of the classes I took and it was a complete wasted opportunity.


Imo, if you're gonna go you should do it the right way. Not the slacker way like I did. :huh:
