$1Million or a penny doubled every day?

what if i spend that penny before day 2? am i screwed? do i want to be screwed?

 

Math teacher showed me this, I would have chosen the pennies.

0.01 x 2^x = 1000000
2^x = 100000000

x = log (100000000) / log (2) = 26,8 days

it takes about a month for the penny to catch up to the million

I'd definitely take the $1 million in cash/deposited. Hiring trucks and shit to transport all of the coins, having to roll the coins, etc, would take so damn long. And they're pennies. 1 roll = $1, maybe less. I couldn't imagine having to deal with that.

And yeah, it's interesting I guess, but I chose the penny in like 2nd grade anyways because once it got past like 512 pennies or some shit I was like 'OMG THATS SO MANY PENNIES!!!' and tried to fathom how many it could be in a month.

And to the above two posters, Simma down chill'ren.

 

I wouldn't mind either, I think if you use it wisely you'd never have to work again with both amounts.

simple mathematics, it would of been more of a hard descision with the add of a loop e.g you loose 50,000 dollars every 5 days for the double your penny.
