    Off-Topic > Religion?

Recently, there have been a ton if threads created about religion, and it has been cluttering the General Discussion subforum. I was thinking we could make a separate subforum for religion? With the amount of posts and threads concerning religion, I imagine it would be active. Thoughts?

Wouldn't that be classified as SFA content? If so, I believe there's a sticky on 'religion' threads.

It will just create hate, and the religion threads have been dying down recently in the SFA forum.

The point of the section wouldn't be to argue. It would be about learning about different religions and whatnot. And you don't have to be "into" religion to post there. It would be open to all: Athiests, Christians, Muslims, etc.

True, but it's rather annoying to see the section congested with various religion topics.
I think activity would spark back up with the creation of the new section.

The debate on religions never proves a point. Religion is to ambiguous in the fact that there is really no proof of which religion is "superior", and essentially that is what most people try to achieve from the religious threads, to basically argue that their religion is better.

This. Any religious discourse is, by definition, pure speculation and thus cannot be effectively argued, neither for nor against. Just causes unneeded flaming etc.

I'd support a sub section / sticky in the SFA for religion; however, not a whole separate section..it'd be a waste.

Well let me put a little more detail into what i said. People will flame each other because of there beliefs, and it causes unnecessary conflict here on the forums.

It wouldn't be about whose religion is "superior." The section would be purely for educational purposes, with debating over some topics. Flaming people because of their religion eould be strictly prohibited.

No. All religious debates in the SFA end up with reasonable people asking questions and religious people avoiding them and using bad arguments for the existence of a deistic god. Such a section would become filled with nonsense and wouldn't make the rest of the forum look good.

Ill put away my flamethrower for this post.

The point is to be debated doesn't matter if it's from speculation each side has it's own reasons and points. The idea as a whole is to debate your point and try to get others to see it your way. Just so happen the point never gets across to the other party doesn't make the subject a bad subject there will be will someone who believes they have a strong debate and will put it on the table.

SFA=SomeThing For ALL it's a forum to debate there shouldn't be no exceptions on topics.

No support the off topic section is fine IMO. I do believe however god threads should be closed if the first post has nothing to debate on.

Also some topics are nothing more then spam and off topic mods should try to pay closer attention i suppose.

Again, it wouldn't be about debating if God is real or not. It would be about learning about religions and debating about certain issues within the certain religion, not about it.

You are saying you want a sub forum that debates about religion and issues within religion?

You can do that in SFA you just have to specify . Then again religion runs in a circle and other parts will be in the debate like any other god thread.

Most people here don't believe in God and if they do they are quite silent about the matter. Really it would just be a few people talking with the occasional troll coming in. So overall wouldn't be active enough.

not too sure if a religion group would be all to smart as religion is a pretty touchy subject, as is abortion. and will cause alot of fights and spam over different religions possibly?

There's really no point. Religious debate can be kept to SFA and religious education is taught in schools and is easily accessible on the internet.
