Help me be able to run Runescape

These are my specs, and I still lag around every 5 seconds or so on Runescape with min settings on, and no other programs up.

It's gotten to the point where I just can't play because of it.

 

I have the same laptop as you haha, well different processor. I always gotten to the point where my laptop is laggy as hell so I'd like to see what people say.

 

Try downloading CCleaner and running that. It makes your computer faster by cleaning a lot of crap off it. Here is a link: http://www.piriform.com/

I'm not sure if you are already doing this, but try running on safe mode. Usually this helps when Runescape is really laggy for me. If that doesn't work then I'm really not sure of any other things I could say to help you run it more efficiently. The only other thing I could say is upgrading your computer/laptop to make it run better, or buying a new one with better specs. I hope this helps.

That does help quite a bit. Its an HP so there is most likely a factory reset program on there. Its pretty simple to do. Just save everything you want and run the factory reset (Google that if you don't know how) and then put your stuff back on. Put your computer settings on lowest (classic mode, no animations, no background for your desktop etc) and make sure that you are running no background programs (IM programs, Virus Scans etc). Use FF (Chrome seems to run Java slowly for me) and only have one tab open. That should help you a ton.

Vista has many issues when it comes to performance man, sorry. I am on a Vista Laptop, HATED vista ran SO SLOW, put XP, I turn it on, Internetz in one minute.

Plus all my games and programs are faster.

AND, the only issue is SOME compatibility if using XP on a Vista, but try 7 if need be, that is also pretty good as well.

 

Yes most likely. Turn all the settings down to no animations and put it on classic mode and that will speed things up a lot.

 

Shouldn't be vista., I have played on a computer Vista HP 32bit, 1 gig ram, Some shitty processor(laptop) Ran on med-high graphics fine.
So just try diff things, reformat would be my first option. If that didn't work, fuck vista and get W7 XD

 

Okay firstly Vista is slowing you down. Also HP most likely has the factory specialized to fuck you up. It has a bunch of useless programs that will only slow you down. If you don't want to change OS you are best of getting "Your Uninstaller" going into the startup manager and removing everything in there that you don't use when you boot up. Then uninstall all programs that have no use to you. Use a Tweaking program to disable features you don't use. Also choose worlds with a good ping.

And finally, to make your computer faster than any Mac or Windows computer you've ever used. Download a Linux Distro. Just make your computer Dual Booting with Vista and test out the speed difference for your self.

 

Disable any unnecessary themes, backgrounds, etc that are hogging processing power and RAM. Vista is an extremely bloaty OS, especially for a laptop. I suggest "upgrading" to XP.

 

Any tips on how to upgrade to xp without buying it?

 

download it as a torrent. just google "windows xp cracked torrent" or anything of that nature. it will probably come as an .iso file that you can burn to a disk and boot from. back everything you want to keep up though unless your loading xp onto a different partition. then boot from the disk and follow the on screen commands.
