Sythe is a market site, think of what it would be like with no people posting on accounts, how would you know what the other guy was bidding?

Not to change sides, but he did state that the system could have it so that everyone or only the seller could see who has bidded what so far, and of course the admins could never allow it if you couldn't see the top bid.

Too big imo. People don't like big changes.

I like it the way it is.

I understand #1 but I believe it would better sythe not hurt it, everyone knows theres to much spam in sellers section and this would fix that. #2 would just take some time coding I understand it may take a while to code all of this but I just think it would better the community, and in the end its up to sythe whether or not this time and money is worth it

Most people are scared of change and that's why things don't get done I mean look at our government, but I do think many would agree that sythe could use some updating and I think this would better the site.

#1- You're saying you want what is spam to be allowed and what's not spam to be spam...you're not reducing anything.

#2- Good point, Sythe isn't the wealthiest site out there right now. The money would probably not be able to be mustered until Richard incorporates us into a company at the end of the semester; as i've heard he plans to.

As for time, as i've said before, Sythe client/Sythe IRC...this isn't a good time to start yet another project of the sort.

Do you honestly believe that my suggestion won't reduce spam? Just go browse the runescape account section and tell me how many posts that you see that have bogus offers there are tons! Not only will this clean up peoples threads of bogus offers but it will also make it easier for mods to find spam.

I partly agree with nicks post but should we put this above our members happiness I mean sythe has so many links on google I doubt this would even affect 10% of these links and nonetheless if there into runescape cheating there bond to find out about sythe sooner or later

You have to break down what "spam" really is. Right now spam is posting things such as "nice account!" or "If i had money i'd buy it!". Right now spam is not "I'll offer 25$ via Paypal my MSN is : ...".

You're suggestion will not reduce spam because all your suggesting is making offers be spam, and make things like nice account and good luck selling be acceptable.

no I'm not saying they'd be acceptable Im just saying w/out offers cluttering inbetween posts it will not only make it easier for the seller but also it will make it easier to identify spam, comments have always been welcome on items it's just up to the seller and most people would agree that comments like nice account would be considered spam even if this sythe offers idea was put into place

This would require a vBulletin mod. Find one.

Then there would be no reason to post anything, just look at a thread and submit an offer. Everyone would have 0 market forum posts.

vBulletin mod..? You mean a programmer? Why would you need someone to moderate vBulletin....I'm stranded when it comes to deciphering what you could have possibly meant by that.

vBulletin mod refers to a modification of the code that vBulletin is wrote in, basically an add-on. For example, Username Images are a vBulletin Mod, its been modified to display images rather than usernames.

    It's possible.
    Look at eBay for example.
Though, I wouldn't want a system like this.
It could easily be abused by a friend of yours sending in an offer so that others bid higher for it.
It would just turn into a big mess.

Oh, i've never heard of that terminology before (i'm not familiar with vBulletin). Saying add-on would have helped me quite a bit.

However, Cf uses the word "find"; I think it's more like "create". I havn't seen something quite like this used on any other site;especially not something we could legally use for ourselves.

I lol'd. That made me think of old Runescape when people would stand next to each other and say

    Buying x 250k

And someone on the other side would say Selling x 200k

    just so you'd buy it.

However, that system too was flawed; since everyone knew Charcoal had no real purpose, no real value.

Just as this "sythe offers" system, like charcoal in runescape, has no real value to the site.

People keep relating this system to ebay, and these similarites were not first intended but I see where things could be simmilar. I had this idea in my head for quite some time but didn't suggest it, so I finally did and I've come to a conclusion that sythe.org is a forum and my suggestion would change the format in which we sell items.I believe that this would greatly improve the way we trade here on sythe but I can see why others wouldn't want this change in place. This change would definately cut down the amount of posts in the market section, but I believe that it wouldn't affect the amount of genuine posts, it would only remove the offers from being posted. I believe that this system would work alot better with some sort of sythe currency, but as we all know this is on the do not suggest list so that is out of the question.
