I used to think it didn't exist...it wasn't a problem..victims should simply tough it out or get some new friends.

My opinion is changing, though. As I'm growing older I see it everywhere and it's starting to become worrying in a school situation. However, on the other hand I detest the little mumma's boys that cry about it. The overreactions of these people throughly annoy me; one of my mates slapped a year 7 on his ass as he ran past. The kid went to the headmaster with sexual assault charges and my mate received a 5-day suspension.

What are your experiences with 'bullying'? Do you think that the victim over-reacted? How about cyber-bullying?

First of all, why would your friend slap some kids ass? Ever?

Worst bullying I have gone through is pretty much not bullying at all, the one odd comment from the resident douche bag is the worst that has happened to me. Though I admit when I was younger I would verbally abuse people who I though were weird.

Though it is hard to say if the kid over reacted, you never know. He could have been abused or whatever in the past. And cyber bullying is just nasty business. 4chan /b/ etc etc

He was playing some ball game and scored a point or whatever...and we were walking past and my mate gave him a 'congratulations' pat. It wasn't meant to be homosexual..we just laughed after. It happens all the time in sport...maybe it's different in USA/Canada :/

Verbal abuse really doesn't affect me in any way whatsoever. Someone starts mouthing you off send it right back at them if you're intelligent enough. The only risk in this turning into physical abuse, but train up and nothing will even be started..

It doesn't happen all that much in our school, I go to a very small school (400 kids) that is racially mixed and everyone seems to get along. Sure there are some fights every once in a while over stupid shit but it all resolves. Bullying seems to happen in the bigger schools where there are more groups of people (Jocks, Nerds, etc). I was going to make a thread on this earlier after I read a story about 4 kids who all attended the same school in Ohio (over a span of a few years) that all committed suicide because of bullying.
Story can be found here: http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20101008/ap_on_re_us/us_bullying_one_town

    It's really sad :(

I really haven't experienced bullying in a sense people constantly harassed me, however I have felt 'not part of the group' before.
As for the victim - he could have had experiences of abuse/sexual harassment in the past..so, it really depends.
Cyber bullying is just as bad as any other form of bullying. Don't do it; someone might take your comments seriously, and commit suicide.

Your friend should have known better, he shouldn't have touched anyone; even if it was not meant to be "Homosexual", invading someones personal space is disgusting, regardless of game play.

He was lucky that he was just suspended, I would have gone further and made sure he was never allowed back into the school. Sexual harassment is sexual harassment, you can't just walk up to a girl after her tennis match and slap her on the ass and say "good game" can you? No and you damn well can't fucking touch anyone else either without their permission.

As for bullying, thats a hell no. If anyone gets satisfactory from another persons pain, than thats a simple, you're a terrorist and you should go fuck yourself. When someone starts crying that should be your number one indicator that they're upset, and what you're doing is wrong and you should have common sense to stop, before the situation starts escalates into something serious.

I've never been bullied before. People are accustomed to know not to pick on me... 'cos I don't take shit from anyone. I'm more of a bystander but will stop bullying if I think someone is taking it too far.

Bullying to the point of suicide is absolutely horrifying. How people can take pleasure in sending someone to die? Tbh the police should run a sting operation inside the school and stick the perps in juvenile detention..

Cyber bullying I find to be not quite as bad. It's easy to verbally combat the 'bully' and friends can back you up easily.

"Dear Mary, I believe this is a simple matter of equestrian tendencies for the male gender. Every man desires to be a cowboy; look at Chuck Norris in Walker Texas Ranger. The man epitomizes machismo. So, ultimately if Mr. Norris needs to travel quickly, how can he motivate his horse to move faster? He slaps its ass. Likewise with sports, men need to commune and help motivate one another as a team. It's standard practice and common courtesy to slap another man's ass if you feel he is slacking. Not only is that fact, that's science." - http://media.www.jhunewsletter.com/...The.Art.Of.The.Butt.Touch-2884344-page2.shtml

    That's almost my EXACT mindset.

I was never really bullied in school,But when i was i didn't take it from anyone.
That kid could have been abused in the past, so I'm not sure if he overreacted.

It's actually really strange in my school.

Most guys in my school just hang with their own friends, they mind their own business and shit. Sure there'll be the occasional name calling and other minor shit, but nothing serious.

The girls in my school, on the other hand, seem to be a lot worse. I always see them insulting each other, talking behind each others backs, popular girls going up to less popular girls and calling them sluts and shit. They're fucking vicious.

Is this like it at anyone else's school?
