The point to questing Defence

Sorry for the nooby question, I'm looking into making a good pure and am confused as to why questing defence is so key? Is it because quested XP won't add to combat lvl?

 

questing defence is vital so you get major quests out of the way without a problem. lets say you legited 45 defence. now you have to do all the quests for zerkers to get barrows gloves, well say goodbye to you 45 defence because some of the quests required give you defence exp.

If you don't do the quests prior, your defence level will be over the level you desire.

 

also if you quest def you dont get hp levels

 

Basically, all answers in one:

1. Questing defense will not give you extra hp levels, is is sometimes faster.
2. There are some vital quests for certain types of pures with defense need. Some of these, and their requirements give additional defense xp... (i.e. defender of varrok for curses and turmoil)
3. Questing defense gives quest points, which not only can make your account more valuable, but it makes it more varied and opens up alot of different rewards... (Lunars, Ancient curses, Hand Cannon, Etc.)

It is like questing attack for a 1 defense pure. you don't want to have 63 attack after doing the grand tree and tree gnome village, so you get around 55 attack, do the quests, and finish it off legit.

 

If you want to stay a certain defense level, quest BEFORE training it. Otherwise, you'll get higher than what you want.

 

If you quest, it doesn't give hp xp so your combat levels will stay down a bit.

 

Also, if any new quests come out that require the old quests as pre-requisites, you don't have to obtain excess def xp when completing the new quest.

 

This is probably the worst reason. You'd only save about 10-15k hp exp which makes NO DIFFERENCE once your hp level is above 60.


The main reason for questing defence is because YOU NEED THOSE QUESTS to access critical equiptment. You NEED to comeplete Frem Trials to wear a zerker helm which gives defense experience as a reward.
You NEED Dragon Slayer to wear rune platebody and have the possibility to attain dragon/barrows gloves without going over 45 defense.

 

The posts above me are correct but I will try to summarize them quickly so it's easier for you to understand.

Basically you do all the quests you need completed for certain items like dragon dagger or to let you use ancient spells in magic so you should do the quests first because if you don't and you start them at 45 defense you will end up at 54 or 55 and you wouldn't be a true zerker anymore.

It's really just to avoid over-leveling your defence on your pure. Do whatever quests you need done first.

 

you do it so you dont end up with 47 defence and defender of varrock not done on your zerker like me
