Suggestion for Sythe Name Changing! READ!

Couldn't have been said any better than this. I would gladly donate $95 more for a name change. Plus custom user title would be a nice perk.

If this could go through, it would be a nice change from being this name for so long.

Would also like to add if the person has a sufficient post count, it could help as well. Not necessarily pure spam, but it would be a huge consideration.

IMO a $50 donation is a very significant contribution to the community. We should consider that anything above $50 could not only be out of reach for some, but perhaps a little greedy.

 

I'd agree with that again, $100 just seems like too much to ask for a simple name change tbh.

Name changes should be reserved for staff only. The whole point of a name change is to look more professional. If you're not in a position of power then it shouldn't really matter.

 

1 year of having your previous name displayed is a bit over the top. Maybe 1-2 months.

And instead of in your signature, how about your user-title?

 

The community is just as important when it comes to "looking" professional.

 

I totally agree with this, I'd work to get $50 dollars to donate to change my name, I just want the "wears prada" out of my name, I chose it when I was an idiot and immature and now I regret it. This should definitely be considered.

I would personally love a name change, not because i dislike my Sythe name but for personal reasons, i don't like using my full real name..

 

Yeah, I think it should be $50.00 Actually, I'v changed it, In my Opinion this will help Sythe out and alot of people do support this, Lots of people would love there named Changed and I don't think it's fair to people with higher Authority to get it changed even though they have been on this site longer than most people. What about those people who have money to change there name? IT CAN BE A BIG HELP!

 

I totally disagree with you, Just because there are probaly people who have been wanting to change there name and have been on this site for 1-3 Years and don't wanna use the name they have anymore.

If name changes ever do be come a mainstream option for sythe users, there would definitely need to be strict conditions one would have to meet in order to qualify, like Spyike has pointed out. You don't want hundreds of members running around changing names, it would make things way too complicated to keep track of who has done what, etc.

Example. A member sells an account to another member. Six months later that account gets recovered and the buyer comes looking for the member on Sythe, only to find the member they remember no longer exists.

Would be a difficult thing to keep track of if the option became available to the mainstream.

I completely disagree, we might not hand out infractions but we do spend our time reporting posts, scammers etc. We're just as important, and we should deserve the right to look just as professional. Obviously we will never be equals, but it will not only make us look more professional but it will also make Sythe itself look more appealing.

 

Even though this wood be a great addition, I've found a problem that WILL be in Sythe's mind before he thinks of implementing this..

It's better to explain with an example.

The reason I didn't take "Karl" in the first place was because it was taken, Sythe would have to delete the "Karl" Account from the DB (Yeah, that's deleting permanently someone's account from the Database..) I think It'd be unfair to delete someone's account, it doesn't matter if they haven't been online since '07.

 

Think this is a given as everyone would know you can't select a name that is already taken.

 

But staff can have Database deleted names, right? I thought thats why Finn got "Finn" etc. I just presumed they would be offered same service as staff are offered now.

 

Interesting.. Although in all honesty, I'd think taking on a prior name would eventually cause issues. We shall see as the thread has not be archived to Declined..

 

That is a fairly good set of guidelines for allowing name changes, but I have a couple changes. I think that $50 donor is just too low. The next step up to $100 seems better just because name changes should be kept at a minimum and should be very exclusive since it does get confusing. Secondly, making the person keep their past name in their user title for at least 6 months would also be good. Their user title is right under their username and would be more noticeable than their signature.

 

I agree, alot of people have been suporting this in a way.

 

Well I'd support what Spyike said but it would only be minor changes. Like Matthew you Matt.
