Why do gay people act gay?

It seems to me gay people are more likely to be bitchy (not meant in a bad way it's just like their personality), really giggly, and you know... high-ish voice. Bi/open minded people tend do fit in with everyone else and you wouldn't even know they were bi until they told u. Is this because gay ppl want to be unique so their sexuality is apparent? But then why do gay ppl have high voices so often?

I'm not trying to stereotype gay ppl but u have to admit atleast the high voice part is true.

I have had mates that are gay, no diferent to you or I, There still human if they like man, wemon or both...

 

Perhaps it's just a coincidence. I know plenty of gay people with 'normal' voices. I only know 1 gay with the stereotypical voice, and that has always been his voice.

My question is, why are there so many strings attached with being gay? It's just a sexual preference. Why is there so much hate towards gays? 'They' are no different than any of us, how is sexual preference relevant to the dozens of stereotypes that we all know and use?

 

I don't hate gay people at all, I just find that more often than not they have very distinguishing characteristics... and it's usually pretty easy to pick out. And when straight actors play a gay role they always do an awful job.

 

Maybe they are just expressing themselves. If I was gay, I would not want to be seen as straight, much the same as straight people would not want to come across as gay.

 

One of my friends recently came out of the closet and all of a sudden he is acting alot different than we used to know him. We always expected something, but you weren't able to tell at how he acted and stuff. Now you can tell he's homo by just watching him / hearing him talk. I don't know what is up with that, but I believe this is his way of showing his new "identity" or so.

Or maybe they think they're expected to act that way.

 

Kind of supports what I said. When people think of gays they instantly think of the stereotypes that you listed in the OP, and the best way of being recognised for who you are is to fit the expectations, right?

 

True I guess it's just like how we wear clothes i personally think we should all walk around naked would be so much more chill but society has led us to follow the gravy train. :/

I tend to avoid following 'fashion' and 'trends'. I wear simple clothing of which I think looks good, the majority extremely cheap in comparison to others.

Big brands will charge you £30 per shirt, I'd rather pick up 10, £3 shirts which are exactly the same aside the logo. There's also a shop near me that does shirt printing for £6. Anything you want on a shirt for £6, would you not prefer that, and be unique?

 

I know what the OP means Ive seen some gay and they tend to ''over do'' it. They act more feminine then girls do and tend to act as if they must walk around acting a weird way. I understand gay people are just gay I have no issue with that but some take it to far.

 

The term I think you are looking for is flamboyant, though not every homosexual has that type of personality. I'm with you to an extent, it does get rather annoying.

 

I believe you are generalizing all gays as acting in such fashion, however it really would be impossible to ask the majority of Sythe who are straight why a gay person acts this way.

 

There's gay dude who sits behind me in lecture hall. All he does is laugh for no apparent reason. And his laugh is annoying too.

 

Some gay people are effeminate, that's the only reason I can think of really.

 

There a lot of people with the high, lispy voice who are gay. There are also many gays that have normal voices. And some have the voice when they aren't gay. I'm not sure why, but it seems to be coincidence.

There is no way to derive one's voice as being homosexual. It is simply that, a stereotype. While it does hold some water, in that you can a lot of the time get a good idea of a male's sexuality based on their voice, it is by NO MEANS an exact science and is by no means reliable to the point where you should use it. Just my take.

Also to the OP, your initial statements are 100% generalized. There are plenty of bi people that I know whom I consider significantly more feminine that some of the gay people I know. To say that all or most gay people are bitchy, or giggly, is also absurd. There is no reason to misconstrue sexuality and personality. Also, why do you say "bi/open minded people"? Are you inferring that all heterosexuals and homosexuals are narrow minded? or for that matter, are you saying that all bi people are open minded? Because if that is your inference, which it appears to be so, then you sir, are significantly mistaken. You might want to reconsider your word choice, because the entire post comes across as ignorant.

I'm just saying it's more common though. The reason I said open minded is because I had a long conversation with this dude who says he's straight but he kissed guys a couple times it was pretty interesting to hear his opinion. Alot of people spend way too long thinking about the words they are typing I just try to express my words the same way I would in real life, and people can correct me in the same way if that makes any sense.

 

I don't even think this is a question "why do gay people act gay". Homosexual people act more girly, giggly, whatever you want to call it because they're expressing themself, or acting how they want to instead of pretending to be heterosexual.

 

I'm just guessing, but I'd say gay people act gay because they're gay.

 

Learn to respect all people, and if it bothers you, ignore it. Simple as that, this thread is some dumb immature shit.
