I don't understand why people listen to Metal music

I really like Metal, (BFMV, Hollywood Undead + The Used), the reason I think I like it is because my huge dislike of popular 'chart' music. I think 'chart' music is really over-rated and has become auto-tuned (T-Pain, I'm looking at you). The artists are doing it for the money, and are picked for there looks etc. They try and churn out as many different songs and albums, in order to get as much money as possible.
My second point is that 'chart' artists, only have their 15 minutes of fame. Whereas metal bands can sustain their fans for years and years.
Metal artists are on the other end of spectrum. They really concentrate on making the songs good. Really spend time on their lyrics.
That's why I like Metal.

In short: Charts are cheapskate. Metal is FTW

It should be qualified as pop-rock.

For metal you should look in the 80's
e.g. Metallica, Iron Maiden and Manowar.

I love it because of the aggression, emotion, and the melodies. I've been listening to it since I was 9 years old, I absolutely love Death and Black Metal. I don't understand why people don't like it, I guess its just something that you and me will never understand.

Because I enjoy the beat to Metal music and most of the time the lyrics have meaning to them, unlike Hip-Hop or Rap. Bands like System of a Down, Dirty Rotten Imbeciles, and Cryptic Slaughter. The Rap I've heard is people bragging about how much money they get from the music business for having no talent and using that money on drugs and weapons to support gang violence.

I can understand why you don't like heavy music that has screaming in it. The only genre I enjoy that has screaming is Deathcore and it's hard to understand what they're saying but the songs I listen I know the lyrics to.

I love metal. However screaming ain't my thing.

Dragonforce, Iron Maiden, Bullet For My Valentine and Avenged Sevenfold are my favourites.

The reason why I love metal is because it gets me pumped and awesome guitar'n

 

Everyone is different. Maybe that will explain why people like it.

I think RnB and rap is bullshit, and don't know how people can stand it.

 

What's wrong about it? Don't start telling me every Rap song talks about drugs or women, because that's not true.

 

I know. I hate metal music. It's just horrible. I also like Rap/R&B.

 

Metal is classified into so many sub genres. How could you hate something you haven't heard yet?

 

some forms are quite fun to listen too sum times, most of them i dislike also...

 

Why is that?

 

All music has its enjoyable qualities, and some people enjoy different styles of music than others. While I do not listen to the radio much, I believe that "chart-music" has its place and is not without merit, it's just not my style.

 

I honestly cannot stand hearing or listening any type of Hip-hop or hardcore Rap. It just absolutely drives me crazy and gives me a headache. I don't understand any of the words they say and it's just pretty confusing for me. I'm the type of guy who generally listens to metal and hardcore Rock, but I've never found Rap to be any good.

Why do you listen to Rap?
Why is Rap better than metal?
It's personal opinion so theres not much point debating choice.
Also, change the record... way too many "rap is better than metal" and vise versa threads...

 

Genre Nazi's make me lol inside. I like my music and to be honest, I don't give a rats ass if you don't like it.

 

I'm not hating on metal. I'm simply just wondering why people enjoy listening to it. You don't really need to get defensive because this is just a thread started for open discussion.
