SytheIRC nick suggestion.

Only being allowed to use the nick 'Denial' is annoyingly limiting, so why not set it so users can change their nick, but it must remain their sythe username. Users would be allowed to add a ` to their nick and three letter after that, e.g.
Denial`AFK
Denial`Brb
That sort of thing.
Thoughts?

 

I was thinking more of the line of this:

Nickname [User name]

It still has the user name and your nickname.

Sythe was talking about adding an "away" feature.

 

Sounds good. 'Cause it'd also let any traders know when someone they want to contact is unavaible, because for some reason idle times can't be viewed. 'Spose it's the beta

 

The only problem I could see with this is people could register accounts and possible importer people, however I think that can be solved by adding whatever sythe uses as an away tag to the censored list.

eg: when you go away your name has [-away-] after it, so sythe would add [-away-] to the censor list to prevent people from registering account with [-away-] in it.

 

If someone registered using the name 'Verts`away' on Sythe, we could have a potential problem.

 

*points to my post above yours* >_>. just censor phrase " 'away "and people can't register an account with that in it.

 

and what of those that wish to register names containing 'away' with no malicious intent?

 

Well, then it sucks to be them and I guess they'll have to choose a different name.

Or you could just manually make their account via admincp I believe.

Just use your nick, and when you're away simply leave the chat..

 

Granted it might be hard to code, but I don't really see how people would fall an imposter with this name <Nickname[Cosrob97]>. I guess they could make it <Cosrob97[Cosrob96]> - but surely, people would notice the difference.

 

The obvious solution here is to let anyone use whatever nick they want, and just lock the ident to your Sythe user name.

I don't get what the issue is. If you're gone people will realize that. If you don't like your username, make a new one.
