10-20 is pretty brutal. You have few skills, little power, and no mount. It's slow and monotonous.

    lol.

You have no clue. If you've actually participated in high-end PvP you could see the awful design flaws.

Hello ele shamans going 2.4k for the first time - BECAUSE THEY JUST GOT GOOD RIGHT? Heh. No.

A few comps are enough to completely fuck the balance of the arena. Hello LSD dribbling retards who spam unhealable damage to anything in the open while chaining non-DR CCs.

or mouth-breathing African Turtle Cleaves training somebody to oblivion with enough stuns, silences and interrupts to lock down a caster for a good minute (Coincidentally it only takes a fraction of that for them to unload insane burst and kill something.

Even better, double healer warriors with PvE gear. They must fill up buckets of drool while playing this comp. It's so mindnumbingly boring and basic but stupid effective.

Resto shaman / Spriest / Rogue. If you've even PvPd at all you could imagine how stupid this comp is. Lusted Spriest + MS and rogue burst. Yeah really.

Shatterplay (Shadow Priest/Frost Mage/Resto Shaman) - Less damage than LSD, but twice the CC to make up for it. Half the DR sharing! GREAT IDEA GUYS LOL.

Any hunter teams tunneling retarded damage to any clothy in the open.

Certain classes completely countering others. Rising up the elevator in RoV only to see a hunter (as a mage) is probably the most heart-breaking thing ever. He can lock you down SO much and tunnel SO MUCH damage.
    a) Warlocks and Hunters
    b) Warriors and cloth
    c) Ele shaman and anything in LOS
    d) Feral and mage.

--NOT TO SAY THAT SAID CLASSES CANNOT DEFEAT EACHOTHER, BUT ONE HAS A SIGNIFICANT ADVANTAGE.

To say the WoW PvP is balanced is probably the worst call you could make. The PvP isn't necessarily BAD, but getting fucking gayed by mouth-breathing dribblers who have no idea whats going on except they're a wizard and combined with their partner can blow you up with minimal effort.

If you're looking for balance and competitive e-sport. Wrong choice.

If you're looking for half-assed PvP effort by Blizzard. Good choice.

Honestly if I were you, I would play the trial to see if you like it.

Once you have decided if you like it, buy World of Warcraft and World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade.

When you buy "Vanilla" WoW you get one month free, and buying The Burning Crusade gives you access to Blood Elves and Draenei races.

Once you get to level 68 you will need to buy World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King to get access to the level 68-80 zone.

In a few months cataclysm will be coming out so you will need to buy that as
well but you shouldn't worry about that until you are level 80.
Also, depending on how you play for WoW you will have to buy game time cars every two months, unless however you get a recurring subscription. It is $15 dollars a month.

Leveling is very slow until you get into Outlands and Northrend. Also at level 55 you can create a Death Knight, which is the hero class.
Disclamer: Do not buy a World of Warcraft account unless the person is extremely trusted, as they are simple to recover

Amg you'll love it. Right now leveling may be eh, but in Cataclysm (next expansion) it'll be so much better. So if you don't like the first few levels now, then go and wait for Cataclysm. (Or go on a private server, get to 80, learn some basic ideas, then go to retail with basic knowledge of what does what and learn way more as you level up legitimately)

PvE is different in WoW then in RuneScape, can't eat during fights but you can take potions, heal yourself, do moves that heal you, hold em in one place (roots as a druid, freeze as a mage) and bandage yourself. Later you can join lfg (looking for group) and have the game find you a group (tank, healer, 3 damage) and take you to a dungeon where its basically fight trash, boss, trash, boss, epic boss, done and done. Of course it changes as you level (gotta cc [crowd control {turn them into a sheep, fear them, ect}] some mobs, pull em to some corner and AoE [Area of effects {summon fire from the sky, ect}], ect ect) Gear up, get in raids when you get epic gear (purple), and get better gear for better raids and ect. (Just do heroics [harder level of the dungeon] for a while and buy Tier 9 gear [item level 232] and then when you're gearscore [it's an addon, download them from curse.com] is high enough [5.0-5.2k?] get in Icecrown Citadel [ICC 10m] and get better gear as your further progress for a 25m, H10m, H25m [H again is heroic]) For any assistance in this you can go on the forums, elitistjerks.com for guides, WoWWiki, and ect.

PvP is way different. It isn't click and eat every so often (yes yes special attacks r fun). It's actually move around, make sure they don't hit you, do a combo of moves, ect. Basically when you're 80 you fight people in battlegrounds (just queue for it and wait) and get honour. Honour will get you pvp gear (which holds resilience, which cuts down damage in a nutshell). When you get more gear do arena, when you do arena you get arena points every tuesday depending on how well you do. These points, mixed with honour, will get you better gear. Then do more arena and eventually you'll get a rating high enough (win this many times for this rating. The best of the best get about 2.9k-3k) you buy gear with just the arena points.

That's about it in a nutshell, of course you get gold from killing, selling, buying it, ect and sure there are more things (skills and such) but you can get all of it from WoWWiki, wowinsider.com (has guides for fights/classes/gold making/fun articles on whats going on in and out of the game [all related to the game]), Tankspot (guides for raids), elitistjerks (guides for your class/spec), arenajunkies.com (guides for pvp), and more.

I can't believe I actually just typed all of this o_O

all aspects of WoW are great, and the game starts when you hit the level cap so its always fun, the catch is... once you install it the game owns your soul, not much you can do about it either.

its awesome if you have a mate that plays or wants to start, recruit a friend is heaps of fun. but first time around taking a little extra time to level was good. gets annoying after a few 100 alts.

definatly hit up the 10 day trial if your thinking about it! you cannot begin to compare the end-game in wow to runescape

WoW is the second name for MMORPG (if you know what i mean :p ). I've been a player since the first game went out. I recommend it simply because it's hard to get bored of it since you can do almost everything you wants to. PvP, PvE (this might get boring after a few time but this is still my fav), there is also Roleplaying servers if you really want to get in the skin of your character.

If you are new to the game like you say, i sugest you wait for Cataclysm simply because new races comes out and people will restart characters from lvl1. So it's you're chance to find people willing to help for low level dungeons and group quests.

When you're new, buying an account isn't the path to follow simply because you didn't learn the character and you will probably dislike your experience. When you start a character from lvl1 you get trought all the spells and abilities and you learn how to play this class as the difficulty of the quest gets higher and higher. Overall, you'll be proud of the character you leveled (i remember my first 60, OH boy! party time it was  ), you will also know your class and know what to do. This way you enjoy playing with others and others enjoy playing with you.

An other suggestion i can tell while waiting Cataclysm: you can try private servers (free servers hosted by random people). The real game is WAY better but it gives and overview and you can slowly start to learn how to play. When you'll switch to the real shit, things will be 1000000000x better and you'll never about going on a private server again (personal exp >_< hehe)

short answer: JUST DO IT! this game is hours and hours of non-stop fun (been playing for 5 years with few breaks there and there to change my mind when i'm bored)
