How much of your pieces are you actually creating?

Are you using an artistic process or are you just arbitrarily piecing it together in hopes of success?

I'm not quite sure how to answer this....
When I first start out creating a tag I never have a plan in my mind for what I want it to look like - I always start out with a stock, and then just improvise from there. As I'm going I find supplementary stocks and images that compliment my original stock, and then work around with it until it fits (if it even does at all). Then I go through and fine tune all the areas; colours, brightness, contrast, sharpening, blurring, etc. in the attempt to emphasize the idea of it being a scene as opposed to a stock plonked on the background.... I work hugely on depth and space, as creating somewhat of a realistic piece is another pretty big factor in my work.

I't really depends. On a lot of my work i create my own stocks i use. and on some i use stocks that other people have created. I like using other peoples work to because i like the feeling of taking something old and putting a new spin on things. I try to focus on one theme when working on a tag sometimes it will be a success and sometimes it will not. I'm currently working on other programs that will help me further my progress in graphics (illustrator,C4D, etc...). I don't know exactly how to answer you're question so i just wrote that.

The answers you post are not as important as the thoughts that invoke them :)

Its a building process, its both creating and assembling. Look at Andy Warhol and his pop art. He built off pieces that were already out there. Just as he was an artist, we are artists no matter if you are assembling or creating.

Unless you've created every single resource that you use for the tag, then there's an element of assembling to it.

Whether you've used Stock Photos or gathered your own Resources, everyone here is responsible for the direction and aesthetics of a particular piece. When designing anything, not just Signatures, we use both creativity and assembly of arbitrary elements to get closer to our vision. For others, using the latter means producing techniques of something beyond imaginative capabilities at that particular time or as a 'spark' of influence which furthers their thought process.
