My Opinion on the Death Penalty

The death penalty is given to a person, as the "worst" punishment that can be.
For a person to get in Death's Row, hundreds of thousands of dollars must be spent on that one single person, as there are courts to attend to and etc.
Finally, when a person is going to be executed, he is sedated and injected and dies in a peaceful way.

But I thought that the death penalty was supposed to the the worst punishment available. If so, then why should that person be allowed to die in such a peaceful way?

This is what I think.
If a person is to be given the worst punishment there is, I think that it should not be the death penalty.

In fact, I believe that the prisoner should be thrown into a cage and fight for his life against a ironman with a chainsaw.
If he survives for maybe 60 years, THEN he will be lifted of this punishment.

We're supposed to give him the worst punishment, right?
Well, the death penalty is not it, as it includes no physical suffering.
The alternative above IS.

That is barbaric... we live in modern society, not ancient Rome. It's particularly disturbing considering that some people who end up with the death penalty are later proven innocent.

I'm against the death penalty. Everybody can be cured, and running away from a chainsaw isn't the way. Yes, I do think you're a psychopath.

I agree with the first reply. Everyone CAN be cured. No death penalty, just spend the money of rehabilitation, and then if that doesn't work just through him in the can for life.

 

You're right, I'd rather get the death penalty than life in prison. I watched a documentary on Timothy McVeigh, the guy who bombed that building in Oklahoma City, and Timothy told the guy who was interviewing him that the death penalty is an escape from punishment. Timothy knew he was going to get caught because police would find the truck information used to bomb the building and trace it back to him and he knew he was going to get death. The guy killed 168 people in that bombing, he deserves life in solitary confinement.

 

OP is absolutely right. How is it cruel? A man rapes your daughter repeatedly and mutilates her? He deserves a terrible death. He proves good behavior and a change in personality in jail and gets an appeal, he passes. He's back on the streets claiming to be a "changed man" a few days later he raped and mutilated another woman. You let that creature out once again. Murder on first sight with criminals worthy of it.

What the hell are you talking about? If we saw a man running from a chainsaw in a movie we would love it? I personally have never liked such mindless movies in the past, and even if I DID it would only be in the knowledge that the performances are fictional.

I'm not interested in arguing about the death penalty, but 60 years running from a maniac with a chainsaw? It IS barbaric, and it's also pointless. There is no need to put a person through such torture, regardless of what they've done. It will not achieve anything aside from 'REVENGE!!!!!111', and if that's all you care about then you're being too instinctive. This would send our moral standards flying back, eliminating centuries of progress.
