Staff Feedback. Hypocritical?

Alright, riddle me this. If illegal actions are not promoted here, how is server development still promoted here?

If I stole, let's say, a candy bar in real life and admitted it... Would that mean I'm admitting to scamming on Sythe.org in some form?

 

I am sorry, but that was stupid. Scamming means getting something without giving what was promised.

 

If you can steal in real life, you sure as hell can steal on an online forum.

 

Just because I can buy a gun, does that mean I will go shoot somebody?

Better: Just because I go hunting, does that mean I will shoot a human?

 

Read what FireZ posted. Apparently stealing from a store is akin to scamming on Sythe with no trial or anything. You're just guilty of anything else.

 

Scamming in general. There was no correlation to Sythe.

 

The rules are clear and will be enforced, stealing is a crime and is unwanted on this site.

Stealing still shows bad character and Sythe doesn't want it on his forums.

 

Where else would he be talking about? We're on Sythe.org, it'd be a general assumption he means Sythe.

 

The definition of scamming does NOT have "Sythe.org" in it in anyway.

I don't have an answer to that. I only have an opinion.

It shouldn't be allowed, as it breaks copyright laws. That is all.

 

But yet, it is allowed. Like my title states: hypocritical?

 

We don't host any illegal servers (or other illegal material).

Regardless, it is the decision of the senior staff whether or not to ban those who boast of stealing real items.

 

I completely support Jagex when it comes to their private server policy, but it's up to Sythe and whoever else manages the server(s) to deal with the legalities. The basic point is, we don't allow stealing and scamming because it's harmful to our members and is a severe offense in all common moral perceptions. I can understand you questioning the server thing, and I suggest you bring that up with Sythe (in a PM, nicely).

 

Also, the sheer detail that kid went into was also much of the decision for his banning.

Its almost like he wanted to re-live the experience.

 

So WRITING about something illegal is against the rules. But actually ENGAGING in illegal activity is not. If so, I just want a YES or NO answer. No more beating around the bush. I just want someone to be clear with me.

Seems too much personal opinion has gone into this statement. Are MODS not supposed to ban/ infract based on rules, not opinion. I am sure no where in the rules does it say that describing how you steal things is disgusting.

If this is getting out of hand, please tell me. I will cease to be inquisitive.

 

The moderation team (and, in particular, Sythe) have the right to remove people from the community if they're deemed to be disruptive or a poor influence.

Regardless, he was fully aware what he was doing was illegal.
