How long after a transaction can u chargeback?

Once again some idiot has charged back like 20$ on me.

Few questions:
how long after a transaction can u chargeback?
if you dont have the money in ur balance anymore, what happens then?

Hey Tieman.

First, you can chargeback whenever you want after the transaction, so basically straight away.

Secondly, If you don't have that money in your PayPal balance it takes it from your bank account or sends you into negative credit.

 

Actually, you only have a week to file a chargeback. If one is not filed within then, if you open a case - you will automatically lose.

 

You can still call up Paypal and explain the story and the situation to them as well. They'll most likely give back your money if it's a legitimate story.

 

I've tried. They've just told me to provide the documents they ask when I open a claim.

 

Yeah, my point exactly, which is why you need legitimate proof and an explanation of the truth.

 

But how does this relate to the case? I doubt he has the proof suffice to make a valid argument/claim. Merely calling them to explain the situation will do nothing.

Sorry if this is off-topic but I just want to help him x). In the future, you just might want to add a note saying: "I am paying for virtual goods I have already received and will not make an effort to claim the money bank as it is to me satisfaction."

 

Well you never answered his first question. The answer is somebody can charge back until 60 days have passed.

It's hard to get proof when you're trading virtual goods.

 

My apologies, I misread the question. I thought it said how long after the trade could a chargeback take place.

 

Someone chargebacked a payment (unauthorised blablabla) like 6 weeks after the transaction... pretty damn annoying lol
