I believe Finn's made an incorrect decision..

Unbanned vader and hacker, i don't think its right move, but it's up to him.

You're glad to see a hacker and ban evader back that threatened to continue ban evading if he was not allowed to return? Yeah, that makes sense.

I feel the same, leniency isn't going to work forever. People will take advantage. Notice how even Finn went out on a limb "Please don't let Giv or I down." ...If you have to plead with someone you're unbanning is it really worth it?

He's contributed more to the positive impact of the site than the negative, and frankly he's an undeniable part of the site's history.

Pardons were created to pardon those who admit they did wrong, but possibly deserve a second chance, and I am all for the decision taken - that Atomic IS a special case, and having him back in the community would benefit us all.

 

"His original account is unbanned" : Yes, now it is. But it wasn't when he was purely banned for phising, and the first time he evaded. Or the second, etc.

I'm not going to contest "He's made more of a positive than negative impact to the site." because I don't know, and I don't care. He could have been co-owner. If you break the rules, you need to be removed. It's that simple. He's being lenient and taking a chance. Please refer to my above post, Finn said "Please don't let Giv or I down." He practically pleaded with him. Is it really worth it? He knew ban evading is against the rules, and he's even using it as a threat to be allowed to return.

See Atomic's post on page 2. An intelligent posts, he seems nice and what not; however, he's a phiser and a ban evader. Many people 'seem' nice, and slightly off topic, isn't that how many report a scammer reports look like? "Well he seems nice and legitimate but then...."

I'm not saying Atomic is ever going to break another rule. Many people are going to agree with his pardon. But, I personally feel that he shouldn't be given the chance to break another rule.

 

That's what pardoning is for. If you break the rules and admit it, you may be given another chance.

 

So, then, you're against pardons for anybody, regardless of any changes of character that they've undergone and contributions that they've made to then site?

 

Am I against pardons? 99% of the time. I'm concerned with the people we're pardoning. He threatened to break more rules if he wasn't allowed back (thus wasting more of our staff's time), and the whole "Please don't let Giv or I down"...if there's any chance that a pardoned member will be letting anyone down, then in my opinion, (s)he shouldn't be pardoned.

 

Where exactly does it say that there's a chance he might let us down? Oh, it doesn't.

 

If there's not a chance he'll let us down why would Finn say "Please don't let us down."

Why are you raging kid? Obviously this guy is/was a beneficial member to Sythe and you are sitting here bitching about his unban? From what I read, when he vaded, he was vading so he could help out the site, sounds like a real malicious member to me. Regarding his phishing ban, that was like what a few years ago? I'm sure he could've changed in the time while he was away, so how about you stop bitching and deal with it.

Anyway, i'm not raging. I'm not bitching about his unban. Once again, i'm not bitching and I have dealt with it.

If you read the original post, I clearly stated I don't care about Atomic's specific ban or unban, I don't know Atomic, i'm not sayin Finn is a bad admin, i'm not upset, nothing like that at all.

Other than that, thank you for posting your opinion. I disagree with you, on the basis that it doesn't matter how beneficial he was; a consequence is a consequence and I take umbrage with the way he formatted his pardon thread.

 

I gave the second opinion on this pardon. Both myself and Finn are confident that Atomic will not let us down, hence the pardon. If we weren't sure, he would never have been allowed back here. This, quite honestly, does not need your involvement and while I appreciate your feedback, it's totally unnecessary to express it in the way that you have.
