How to a make a thread visually pleasing

I've seen countless guides which are quite good but look horrible. It is simple to make a thread visually pleasing by using colours, picture, fonts and size variation.

Here is an example of a visually pleasing thread

Now, here is an example of thread that will turn you off

The biggest problem some people may have is they continuously talk about one subject without using: commas, full stops, hyphens, question marks and so on.
Another problem they do is type long essays without paragraphs to break it up. This usually cause people to see it and say, "
Oh wow, I'm not gonna bother reading this wall of text."

Another bad thing people do is use a huge font and have a hideous colour. Just because you are using colours and size variations doesn't mean it's visually pleasing.

The differences between the two paragraphs are: the size, the color and the different font. See how in the above, I didn't center the text. It is because when you are writing guides that have short lines of text it looks much better on the left hand side than in the middle. It also makes it look like that you put more effort into it.

Now what colours should you use?

Well you should use any of these colours in box as 9/10 times the brighter colours attract the eye more on a dark background.

    What about the size?

Unless it's the start of the title you should use size 4 or smaller. Sometimes size 4 is pushing the limit but it really depends on the font.

Now for the font, I have put a red box around the fonts that looks acceptable. The other are either too fat, the space between each letter is too separated or is hardly readable.

Here is an example of somebody using colours and fonts. See how effective it is, bold and looks good.

Now, here is what you really shouldn't do.

That's about it. Hopefully, you've learned how to make your thread stand out, have correct layouts, etc.

There are too many colors to be considered "pleasing" to me. Maybe it's just me.

I think you're right. But, everything I try doesn't work. It's just the pictures have too many colours already + size of the picture are getting in the way.

Could you please suggest something to fix it :)

You don't have to have 10 different colors of text. Simplicity can be visually pleasing. All you're trying to do is read something to understand a message. The more straightforward the message is, the more easily interpretable it will be. Organization is also important.

This is just my opinion; please don't think I'm saying my way should be exact.

Well, I agree with your opinion. So that's why I'm asking what you think could improve it.

Also, how does it look centred?

I'm not sure, to be honest. Having it centered is convenient for the reader because they have a point to focus on, instead of jutting their eyes back and forth over uneven text.

The colors are still irritating, also :p

    How about yellow?

    I'm 50/50 on it.

Yellow is nice, as it is visualy pleasing with the blue background. Again, simplicity can be great as well.

I center everything in my thread. Is that something I should avoid? I think it looks pretty decent in the end.

Nice, this was very well done. I also think it's a huge turn off to see an uncropped or poorly cropped photo. Also, it's another pet peeve when people take a picture of an account in full-screen or maximized view, so that the picture is 800 or more pixels wide. I always screenshot my pictures in fixed detail because it offers the smallest picture.

BTW, what's wrong with Georgia font? It's my favorite. :(
