iPhone 3GS Problem...

Hello, I recently bought a Virtual item; iPhone 3GS 16GB from someone on Sythe. I received it and he said he unlocked + Jail broken it for me. I've never used an iPhone before so I upgraded it like an idiot. Now It's locked and there is a USB + iTunes logo and a Emergency Slide call. There is no way to use the phone... I tried downgrading it but it just doesn't work? What is the problem? Should I buy a AT&T SIM card? I am from Australia, Sydney. ​

 

You need to do a iTunes reset. Open iTunes and reset the phone. You will probably lose the jail-breaking and/or the unlocking but if you want it work properly, you should do the aforementioned suggestion.

You may need to have it unlocked again; check your local retailers to see if they can help you (if you want to obviate the extra fees and costs that iPhones warrant).

 

This is the problem. I restored it on iTunes and it got locked. I can't use the phone at all. I tried downgrading but it didn't work. If I take it to Apple Technician would they fix it? Or iPhone Doctor's?

 

I wouldn't take it to an Apple Technician as you violated their terms by jailbreaking/unlocking it. Maybe an iPhone Doctor's would suffice.

 

Would this phone work for someone in America? I could sell it again if it did. Also, If anyone is willing to help me or I can send it to them it would be great! I could pay for shipping and return.

 

I think you'd be better off asking an iPhone retailer (that's not Apple associated) before doing so. If they can fix it for a few bucks, you'd be relieved of shipping costs.

 

I've tried so hard to find someone. I would pay them anything... Honestly, I just want this phone to work. I only got to use it for 2 days after purchasing

 

Try looking on Craigslist (I'm not very sure how it works in Australia) - http://geo.craigslist.org/iso/au

You should be able to restore it from factory settings, from there,
you can jailbreak/unlock it without a sim card in it.

THough you may need someone with knowledge about the phones on how to activate them.

 

Haha well man I'm sorry this happened to ya, I hear calls like this ALLLL day.

So If the Iphone was originally in the US, its going to be locked to AT&T's network, and the only way to get it to function more then the Emergency Calls only, is to

Put a Activated AT&T Simcard in to the Iphone
Open Itunes, connect the phone.
It should say welcome to your new Iphone Lets get Started!
Click setup as new, Check the box's to modify your sync Settings,
click Continue or next and it will sync and DONE!

Other then that your kind of screwed. =\ If you post the Serial or IMEI number I can pull it up and let ya know if it is Locked to AT&T
