Buying an account - BE AWARE - Read

I plan on expanding this post depending on the first few replies I receive.

When buying an account many people assume that if you use an OMM and buy from a trusted Sythe user that the trade will be 100% secure. This assumption is 100% false and people in this community really need to get an idea of the whole picture of how the account recovery system works.

I am an extremely old member of other Runescape IRL selling websites and have learned many things over my years. After browsing through many Sythe threads I quickly noticed how un-aware people are of how easy it is for someone to steal an account you purchased as well as how to keep an account secure.

Many people do not know that if you talk to a Jagex Mod and tell them you got hacked, they can do many things to help keep the account secure for the ORIGINAL OWNER! One may ask to have their account "cleaned" as they call it back at Jagex. This means that your account will be temporarily disabled for about 30 minutes while a specialist mod in the not advertised Account Security department investigates the recent history on your account. These Mods will delete any new information that was put on the account by the "hacker" (person who bought the account) such as recovery questions, e-mail, recent password changes, etc. The Jagex mod will also list the IP as an automatic void in recovering the account. Not to mention any time a foreign IP user keeps trying to recover the account (the person who bought the account) specific information they use over and over such as an agreement number for membership, will become void. From that point on, any time you use a voided piece of information, the IP you are on will no longer be able to recover the account AND your recovery attempt will become unsuccessful due to lack of "Contact Details."

I hope this is a helpful warning to everyone. If people find my thread is helpful, I will go on to make guides to how to purchase an account and prevent all this mess from happening.

This is why you should always ask if a recovery test is possible in the trading process. Most people say they "don't have the time" for a recovery test, but really insist on that test.

 

Or just buy from pll's who have already sold accounts...

 

I don't understand why people try to talk about things they know nothing about, and you need to learn more about middlemen.

 

This post was sorta of useful, but I highly doubt anybody would risk their "Trusted Reputation" on Sythe to scam, They will make more money the longer they stay apart of the community, and will continue to have good trades. So I don't see what the big deal is. If people don't want to risk getting scammed, they should not buy accounts in the first place.

 

too bad i bought an acc and he recoverd it and when ever i recover it back keeps on denieng allthought i did arecovery test

Err wrong.

I have a problem with a buyer that chargedback and has the info. After recovering it 3 times, i contacted jagex and even gave them his IP. I also asked them to wipe my info. Days later i unlock my account and 2 weeks later it gets recovered again.

No, not keylogged etc.

 

This is things you already should of known of when reading this.

Whatsoever, might guide some others through account sales.
