New to the forum; any tips?

Hello guys. I've just joined the forum after lurking for the past couple of days and would like to introduce myself.

I played Runescape back in the good ol' days (RSC <3) and have finally returned to the game over 5 years later. Now that I'm older, I have a job and money to throw at the game. As such, I've joined this site to trade with some more trustworthy people (I'm not a fan of these farming sites who know little English).

I've read a couple of general threads which outline the process of trading goods on this site and one key point I've taken is that reputation matters. I recognize that I'm a new member to the site and that my recent join date may scare some people away from trading with me. I can honestly say that I have no intention of scamming anybody, I just want to pay for goods, whether it be gold or an account, and receive them.

Which brings me to my initial point, do you guys have any tips for a newbie Sythe trader? How can I prove myself as being trustworthy? Is there any specific threads I should read?

Responses much appreciated, I look forward to trading with you guys and becoming a part of the community.

    Welcome to Sythe!

At first it may be hard for you to get some trades. Try offering some free training in the Skill training section. That's usually a good way to build up some trust/Sythe experience.

Thanks for the fast responses guys.

I'll give what you said a try. As I said, I've got absolutely no desire to scam anybody and I'll do everything I can to prove it. It just takes time I guess :)

Hehe, nice to see a fellow football (or soccer, whichever you prefer) fan! Are you an Everton fan? Or just a Cahill fan? (with the Aussie connection and all)

Either way, Cahill scoring at the weekend and Everton getting that draw made me very happy! :p

Thanks man, I'll bear that in mind.

It's important starting-out to honestly not trust many people. Manipulation and scamming is very much alive in all black-market communities, and sadly, this one as well. New users are often the target of these pathetic scams and you need to know WHO TO TRUST. Factors of trust (in my opinion) include:
    - Amount of vouches
    - Total value of vouches
    - Community Ranks i.e. User Educator and obviously moderators of any kind
    - Although this is often debated, join date and post count can be factors.

That's all from me, if you need any help feel free to PM me and be CAUTIOUS.

    Hi and welcome to sythe

As the others have suggested go to the Skilling Service or any other service you wish. Questing, Skilling, minigames, goldfarming and getting defenders are the main ways people gain vouches to start off.

I suggest starting off for free then after gaining trust start making people pay for your services.

Remember that it is not always the amount of vouches you have rather it is the value of the vouches.

Quality of Quantity is the case many times when getting trusted.

Well, you can first start off by not using the semi colon incorrectly

In no way would incorrectly using a semi-colon hurt her chances of someone trading with her...

    OT: Welcome to Sythe!

Offer some free skill training http://sythe.org/forumdisplay.php?f=445 to obtain some Vouches. Then make a Vouches thread http://sythe.org/forumdisplay.php?f=518

Then once you have a decent amount of vouches, you could start doing other trades.

Donating is also a good way of gaining trust. Noone will donate, lets say, $25, just to go and scam someone. Unless its a big trade :p

If you need anything else, feel free to PM me :)
