    Stopping Sythe Scammers,

What can be done to stop them,

-Trading over MSN should be stopped. ( Make it a rule )

-Increase the amount of OMMs, this way there should be atleast one online at the time, so people aren't forced to go first, most are usually in a rush, that's why they go first. ( This one could take awhile )

-Make new mods, "Evasion Mods" There duty is not to stop people from getting scammed, but just to search for evaders, thats the only thing they mod, this way a market mod would have more time to just check on threads, while Evasion mods will be looking for Evaders.

-Donators shouldn't consider themselves "Trusted", just because they donated.

    1. What do you suggest we use as an alternative?
    2. How do you suggest this could be accomplished? Make the application process easier? I'll disagree if you suggest this.
    3. Ask globals to do this. Why do we need more mods?
    4. Only fools would take a shitty donor rank into consideration without first consulting vouches, join date, etc.

    Okay, I understand,

    1. We can you use PM's.

    2. This is why I said it can take awhile :p

    3. Globals ban evaders, I know that, but Evasion Mods will be scouting the BM every time they're on Sythe.

    4. There are many fools here.

I support your title but I do not support the body of your thread because to me it stopping trading over msn seems unpractical and most unlikely to happen.

There is enough OMM's and many people are not willing to pay the fees and are happy using a trusted MM.

Take a look at how many people have been banned recently for evasion, the staff are doing a great job at that.

I know most of the suggestions won't be taken into consideration. Like the Msn one, but I've heard stories where MM's got banned for scamming.
    For example,

    Murdertrain, H U S T L A , not sure if hustla got banned for scamming though.

I know the globals are doing a great job, but there are always going to be stragglers.

    1. It's difficult when conducting trades. Most people appreciate instant messages. It's also quite difficult to tell if you've been scammed using PMs. You might think the guy has just gone away to eat dinner as an excuse as to why he hasn't sent you the account details. Meanwhile, he's scamming someone else. It also makes the MM's job harder.

    2. Long term goals, I see. I understand.

    3. Hmm I'll be inclined to agree with you, but the staff would never go for it.

    4. No doubt.

True I didn't think of the MSN suggestion that much anyways, I agree with you on that, but think of it. If there are mods, JUST to ban evaders, they don't even look at people scamming, Market/Global mods can take care of that. Also if Global mods are banning evaders, they also have the Report a Scammer section on their hands, so if they made Evasion Mods, Everyone would just have 1 -2 things to have to do at max.

    Edit:

Look at Skele and Spyike, they are machines, but do you still think they have enough time to keep looking at evaders? They still ban evaders, but there's always going to be more.

The easiest thing to do is, Make Evasion Mods,
When someone joins sythe again, they have to be approved by Evasion mods, this way it will be way easier, they can just check IP's like that.

EDIT: You beat me to it Necro :p

I don't think the staff support trading through PM's.

True, I didn't think about the Msn issue enough, but the evasion has to be stopped. Edit : COMPLETELY

Well, most evaders are getting picked up by some moderators. *Cough* FireZ *Cough* Sythe re-enabled an I.P checking system which allows moderators to check an accounts I.P to other banned accounts they share with that I.P. They've done pretty well so far.

Yes I know, FireZ has banned alot of evaders, I've seen, but do you think him and other global mods with the other things they have to do, will ban every single evader on sythe?

Even with your suggestion, there isn't a way to ban every evader. You ban 5, another 5 registers.
I heard Sythe installed a new update that catches ban evaders before they finish signing up. It doesn't seem to be working too well though. There are still a lot of them running loose.

Very true, So as said above there should be Mods who should approve of the registration of new members, this way they can check they're ip/match it before any damage is caused.

If I'm not mistaken, only admins are allowed to approve these type of accounts. Other communities have implemented these, but have never gotten far. When a new member registers on our forums, they want to sell their account right away. And when seeing that an admin is required to validate their account before they can do so, they'll leave for other blackmarkets.

    Sythe wouldn't go for this.

I understand what you mean, and to some degree it's a good idea. The issue I don't think the Sythe staff think it's needed. Plus, asking for more moderators is on the Do Not Suggest list.

I've got a slight alteration to the "evasion mod" idea. Although I'm sure staff won't agree to it, it gives it more hope.

We give certain normal users, ones who have shown significant dedication to the site, the power to search an IP. They are still regular users, but they just have the added power to search the IP. This means they cannot ban, lock, infract, move or participate in stall discussion. They must also actively use it, so a user cannot gain the powers then sit back and feel accomplished. If they happen to catch a ban evader, they can post it in a sticky made in a private forum made for them, where a global can come see them and ban the offender.

    Just a theory though.

I think this comes under "Do not suggest users be given staff powers". It's a good idea, but yet again, staff wouldn't go for it due to the fact that it may be abused.

Basically , you want to have this come out and hopefully you will get it , so you can show how good you are and then try become a mod.

BUT Great idea tbh...needs to be done.

Alot needs to be done though , just comes down to time and money...
