Sythe shouldn't be so protective about staff demotions

Every time a staff member is demoted, or gets banned, there is a huge shit storm and naturally people want to know why.

The threads are locked without answers and talking about the situation tends to be prohibited. My question is, why bother? Why not just make a quick news announcement briefly explaining the situation, to inform the members of the community. I believe people have a right to know. The truth usually comes out after a couple of days anyway, and most of the time it's something like staff lounge leaking. What's the point in being so sensitive about it?

Just tell us why and be done with it.

 

Yeah it does get annyoing people asking why, but i dont care as long as its in the spam fourm. Not a bad idea if they are willing to let "us" in on it.

 

It's really not anyones business in the first place.

 

To be honest, it kind of is. People look up to the staff, and when one is banned or demoted without an apparent reason, people will want to know why.

It's a community. It should be our business.

I support, it always comes out eventually, why not just tell us when it happens instead of making us wait 3 days or so.

 

Normally you'll find your answers in the Spam Forum.

I don't think they should make announcements about it, announcements should be saved for IMO "happy" things.

 

So that's why the majority of announcements are about staff MSN address' being hacked, and the site being DDOS'ed?

 

2 out of the 3 threads I linked in the OP were in the spam forum. No one knows why Alteranz was banned yet, and we probably won't know for a good couple of days after a load of drama.

Might as well just tell people :huh:

 

I think we should know what is happening. I don't think we should just find out one day a staff member is banned or demoted. It was save a lot of time answering and closing different threads if they could just write a one sentence response saying "ban evader" or "Leaking staff information." I don't see why you don't do this in the first place.

I agree with this. As a community we are all connected somehow and some of us feel like family to others so we should diffently get to know what happened.

 

That thread (from what I've seen) tells everyone what has happened, but it doesn't tell why.

Edit: In some cases it does tell why, but in other - sometimes quite important - cases, it doesn't.

 

Okay so I see that they got demoted but "His awesomeness was lagging the server," doesn't really tell us why. Was he ddosing? Was he running some other programs? Or is that a joke? Not very helpful sorry. :/

Usually these bannings/demotions have just occurred and need to be discussed before being released to the public. Just wait it up, and you'll find out soon.

 

Can't they discus it and then demote the member? I don't really see what there is to discuss before telling the community but I could be wrong since I don't know what you guys talk about in the staff lounge.

 

I didn't know he meant a global announcement, I thought he meant the Sythe.org news.

 

I think it could even be a thread in the community general area. I really don't care where it is as long as normal members can find out why staff members are banned or demoted. I just found out about 10 min. ago why Gohanforever was demoted. I don't think it should be 3-4 weeks after we find out about these things. Ah sorry, yes, that may well have been what he meant, I just automatically assumed he meant global.

 

Why does people want to know in first place, it's none of their business. If someone gets demoted its probably due to a personal choice or a lack of activity. If the mod/admin would of did something wrong/major, he would of been banned. Plain and simple.
