I highly recomend you a small city/village neer Barcelona, for various reasons.

First of all, you don't get much stressed because of the huge quantity of people around, noise, pollution, etc. In the 'village' I live, 20 km from Barcelona, 4,000 inhabitants, houses are cheaper than a 50m2 flat in Barcelona. So you have your own space, etc.

The good thing of living in a village neer a big city is mentioned above and, if you need something that you can't get there you just get the public transport to Barcelona and there you have everything... Plus, public transport to Barcelona is cheap (2€).

Another good thing of Spain/Barcelona is that everyone knows English so that wouldn't be a problem either.

And, of course, the city is beatiful and the beaches... you know. :)

I know you said you didn't want to go to Europe, but Scotland is awesome. It looks like it's frozen in time. You simply can't be depressed there. (I don't live in Scotland by the way ): ). Anyway, good luck finding a good location!

What about Vancouver, BC, Canada (where the 2010 olympics were). The city is really big and mountains are close by (about 30 minute drive away) and if you are the type of person who likes travelling, site seeing etc., this is the place for you. We also have free health care ;)

Edit: flight will cost around $400 one way.

Come to South Carolina :)

Nothing is overpriced really, gas is a good price. Housing is cheap the weather is great and there is a great atmosphere here. Many places to chill at, theres lots to do and the people are nice. THe beaches are also amazing a.k.a Hilton Head and Myrtle Beach. <3 them.
Plane Tickets should be fairly cheap and its not overpopulated at all. Nice place to live :)

Are you a city person or more of a rural person? I live in the only town in Pennsylvania. It isn't like a city but it isn't to rural. There are a lot of people here but it is a nice SAFE town and really easy to find your way around. Also friendly people. If you are a city person then I can't really tell you where because I hate them with a passion and try to avoid them.

EDIT: when I say "I hate them", I don't mean city people, I mean cities.

A hard lesson is the only lesson that works. If you fine someone heavily for littering, they'll think twice before doing it again. Well that idiotic American deserved it. Don't vandalize something that isn't yours. Drugs is a dirty business. I don't believe in the death penalty for it, but if it keeps people away from drugs and keeps the streets clean, then by all means.

Singapore is the land of opportunity!

Washington is also a great place to live in the united states (Washington state).
If you can stand the rain it is a beautiful place to live. I loved it but sadly i moved because my father just could not stand the rain so then we moved to Georgia then over to taxes. Texas is also another good place to live...Dallas area Plano, prosper...Frisco...I mean i love it ....everything is close.. i don't live in the city but i'm fine with that. And their is good weather...90s and 100s in summer and winters are cold but other seasons are nice.

Come to Melbourne :p

It's relatively small, mild weather, good nightlife and there's plenty of work.

And there are lots of other interesting places not far out of town.

Do you have any idea how British education qualifications transfer over to Australia? Or would I have to get a whole new set of qualifications before I can get a job?

Yea, I live down here in Clearwater Florida. I love it here. There is not much to make you go crazy down here and there are spots with busy cities, and some with quiet countries, which ever you prefer. I've lived down here my whole life and there is much to see and do with many amusement parks and attractions to see and do. The only down-side is there aren't many job positions so you gotta be looking out for one.

I'm not interested in weed, and that's far too close to where I already live.

I hear property is very expensive in Florida. I've been there before and stayed in Orlando for a few weeks. The people there are pretty annoying, but I guess there's annoying people everywhere.

It's actually very cheap (at least compared to where I live) and the entire place is beautiful (again, compared to where I live). Darn Canada>_<

Probably cause you were in Orlando where all the amusement parks are etc. / where rich snobs stay for weeks at hotels and go the the attractions. When your settling down try northern parts of florida where there's not too much going on, but enough to keep you entertained and loving it. Another great thing is that it during winter it gets cold but not as bad as other states and almost all year it's good enough to be at the beach.
