Will Gold Prices ever go back to .50/M +?

Do you guys reckon the prices of gold will ever go back up again?

Unlikely.

All currencies suffer inflation, this has been so for as long as we have recorded history, I believe we have records grains of wheat rising in price in Greek Drachma.

By gold prices, you probably mean prices in USD dollar, which also suffers inflation, albeit at a much slower pace.

Avoiding or reducing inflation is a huge effort, and the only way for the price trend of the USD/RSGP pair to reverse would be if antiinflationary measures of a british VideoGame company were to beat that of the world's strongest economic and military superpower.

Possible yes, unlikely. The only reasonable paths towards this scenario are:

- Massive ban-event against both botters and rwters.
- New economy, perhaps with the release of a new game mode, like a perma DeadMan.

In a way, the release of a seasonal deadman will definitely have higher prices, at least initially.

Discounting temporary event driven fluctuations, I don't think there's ever been a time where gold increased by 200%+ and didn't return to previous levels.

 

How about the return of the Wilderness?

The return of wilderness / free trade is the event that I can remember that brought back the most players. I'm wondering if that once in a decade event brought about such a price increase in gold.

 

The price will never be anywhere near $0.50 per mill again.

If the duel arena was added back to the game gold prices would go back to .50. The monopolized holders of the majority of osrs gp decided that after of the removal of duel arena, and the creation of the runestake gambling platform that they would keep osrs gp cheap to be more enticing to people who would still like to gamble and no longer have the duel arena for that, since lets be honest unless you are a reseller yourself the main reason people buy gp is to gamble. It is much less common with all of the ironman modes that so many people prefer now to see someone who simply just wants a little bit of pvm gear for their self buying any substantial amount of gold. So yeah, there is your answer from my genius observations hehe. All in all the people who have the most gold with the most reputation directly determine the buy/sell price of gp and our fingers point to an unresponsive god @Sythe

 

100% agree with this, Ironman mode seems to be the majority now, especially now that duel arena has been removed and the lack of PvP updates, its highly unlikely to see the gold prices rise again

 

DMM was hugely successful and more pvp content is rolling out now that jagex has a dedicated pvp team

 

not a chance unfortunately its too far in the muds, maybe one day back to 30c but no time soon

 

sad to hear man, i'd be happy with .3 though.

 

I'd be pumped af to just see .3/.35 again. I think that is a healthy state for GP to be at.
