Everything You've Been Taught About Gender Is A Lie!

Many of the claims we commonly swallow about male and female brains are based on very bad science.

Most - if not all - of the "gender differences" we are taught are socially constructed.

Scientists dressed newborns in gender-neutral clothes and misled adults about their sex. The adults described the "boys" (actually girls) as angry or distressed more often than did adults who thought they were observing girls, and described the "girls" (actually boys) as happy and socially engaged more than adults who knew the babies were boys.

The "women are better at empathy" idea is also based on nurture vs. nature? We tell little girls it's okay to cry while telling little boys to "buck up and be a man" thereby showing girls it's okay to be emotional but not okay for boys to be. Really, all of these ideas are societal constructs that we're made to believe. That patriarchy sure screws up everything.

Gender stereotyping begins in the womb, so it's really hard to separate nature from nurture because they're both in play right away.

Life leaves footprints on the very structure and function of the brain, these various experiences produce sex differences in adult behavior and brains—the result not of innate and inborn nature but of nurture.

    Let's debate!

For the beginning part about boys being more socially engaged, and girls being more stressed, I've found to always be true.

I always see guys having fun with there buds, having a grand time. and girls always talking shit about each other from behind their backs, gossiping, and pretty much just being high strung (of course this isn't always the case, just from what I've experienced/seen)
