Film Adaptations

List a few memorable adaptations of Novels brought to the screen.

-The Road (written by Cormac Mcarthy , adapted by John Hillcoat)

- American Psycho (written by Bret Easton Ellis, adapted by Mary Harron)

- Clockwork Orange (written by Anthony Burgess, adapted by Stanley Kubrick)

-Where The Wild Things Are (written by Maurice Sendack, adapted by Spike Jonze)

 

The Shining (written by Stephen King, adapted by Stanley Kubrick)

Stephen King actually didn't like that movie adaption when it first came out. But it's great.

 

Yeah, The Shining is probably my second favorite Kubrick film- the first being Barry Lyndon.

Kubrick was known to always fit in his own piece of mind to the adapted story- in clockwork orange he drastically changed the ending, so that it was polar opposite of what the book suggested. I've read that King wasn't happy with the adaptation (The Shining)- i haven't read the novel so i can't point out what Kubrick tweaked but im sure it was for the better.
