The Greatest Athlete of All Time

Why is everyone so narrow minded about sports now a days?

 

I don't think most of you understand what an "athlete" is. It's not just a person who excels in one sport, but can play many. Who just has that natural ability to pick up any sport, and be good at it.

Which is why I would say Micheal Jordan.

 

Michael wasn't on the baseball team for stats or talent. He was there to bring fans to make money. (Don't argue on this because its true.. His stats sucked for baseball).

 

Chris Johnson. 2nd year in the NFL and he already hit 2k rushing yards in a single season, broke the record for yards from scrimmage, was the 1st player to rush for 2k rushing yards and ALSO have over 500 receiving yards, first player ever to record 3 rushing touchdowns over 85+ yards. He did this all on his 2nd year ever in the NFL. I also believe he has a lot more potential and will break a lot more records.

Go Titans.

 

He's not a bad golfer either.

To be able to even play in the big leagues is an accomplishment. There are very few people who can go pro in two sports. Prime time is the only one I can think of who was good at both sports he played.

 

Michael Jordan. The man faced adversity early in his life.. he got cut from his basketball team in high school. He had the determination to eventually be the greatest player ever to play the game.

Terrell Owens is also a monster. See him play in the celebrity game during NBA All Star Weekend? I'm sure if he wanted to he could get an nba contract.

 

He didn't get cut.. He just didn't make Varsity as a sophomore.

 

That's what getting cut means..

 

He made JV though, so he wasn't cut.

I don't think you can judge who's the greatest athlete in general. I think you have to go by sport.

Baseball: Hank Aaron
Basketball: Wilt Chamberlain
Football: I'm going to say Dan Marino?
Track: Jesse Owens

 

Wayne Gretzky. Michael Jordan. Derek Jeter. Yogi Berra/Bera, not sure. Mohammed Ali. And some others I can't name right now.

 

When you have a league of 8 teams the teams are going to be much more talented. It filters out all the crap players. Therefore, Wilt played against a much, much, MUCH less watered-down league than in the last 20+ years.

 

Wrong. Athlete: A person who is trained or skilled in exercises, sports, or games requiring physical strength, agility, or stamina.

Where does it say that they have the natural ability to pick-up a sport? Michael Jordan made Baseball because he was a media darling/whore.

Wilt also played professional Volleyball after his retirement, he was able to bench EXTREME weight. Michael Jordan played Baseball when he was still relatively young (30-31).

And, Golf? What kind of agility, or stamina (besides mental stamina) do you need to be good at that?
