Thread regarding Plznate's ban, and the recent reform.

Now his post was in the wrong area but why was he banned instantly and his thread deleted almost instantly?

It just struck me as odd.

 

Firstly, the reasoning for the rule reform was because of the shitstorm that followed Plznate's ban - After a huge uproar, the Staff and Sythe himself believed a change was possibly in order regarding punishments for self-vouching.
But we didn't leave it for just the staff to decide the changes, we left it to the community to have THEIR say in the matter, and what should happen - it just so happened that the majority vote was for the ban length to be reduced from permanently to only 3 months.

Now for the specific case of Plznate-
Nate was an EXTREMELY valuable asset to the community; serving as a Sythe Guide Verifier, an Official Middleman, and a User Educator - also donating $100 of his own money to the Site. The original intent of his self-vouching was not to scam, but to boost his business and bypass the whole "gaining trust" aspect when you first join Sythe - because of this, we can see he didn't have any malicious plans for scamming members of their money/items/accounts. As he has contributed so much since he joined (and we can see he has changed greatly from when he first arrived), alongside the fact that his ban sparked the reform, we have been merciful on him and instead his ban time is reduced to the newly introduced 3 months.

 

I see where that dude's post is coming from... but in the case of nate, it's just because of how much he contributed to sythe.

Shoot.. it's real hard to get "trusted" on here.. with the vast amount of people on sythe. I've been a member for almost 4 years and still nobody knows who I am.

 

You can protest that the staff are corrupt and show favoritism all you like. The sad fact is that they will never openly admit it, only show it through cases like Plznate's and then deny it through faulty justification filled with irony.

 

Please elaborate with your reasoning behind us staff members being "corrupt".

 

This staff is not corrupt. Plznates decision was the correct one, a 3 month ban.

 

Who cares if Nate's perm ban is getting reversed. He's obviously an asset to sythe and is highly respected. I'm sure if there were other members prior to this who have also demonstrated these qualities their perm ban would be changed too.

 

Plenty of other members who were 'an asset to sythe and highly respected' have been banned without a rule being completely changed for them. Example? Shredderbeam - he did 10x as much as Nate did for the site.

 

Sythe overruled Finn on the whole "this will not be applied to Nate." It was the right decision considering all Nate had done for the site to be banned for being stupid 1 time...

I'm not on either side for the unban/ban plznate saga we had here, however I was mostly curious as to why that guy who posted that would be instantly banned/thread deleted. What's up with that?

 

It was the owner's decision, and it was a fine one.
Why are you complaining that the staff is corrupt when 95% of them were prepared to ban him but one of them though against it?
Sythe has the right to do what he wants here in terms of those decisions.

 

Read the post above your own, i'm not for/against this whole debacle. It's Sythe's site he can ban all of us if he wants and we can't say it's corrupt.

I was curious why that guy was banned/thread deleted after he posted it, i'm not promoting that it's corrupt (Even if it's favorable, it's not my website nothing I can do about it.) Was the guy an evader or was it just something that no one wanted talked about .

 

Because, like you, he is nothing but a trouble making ban evader and it is our policy to delete posts from such evaders to discourage them from coming back.

 

I stated that it wouldn't be retrospectively applied in order to ensure that the poll was free from bias.

 

It shouldn't be retroactive in the first place. These people knew what the current punishment for that offense was when they committed it. They knew what they were risking. It is only retroactive because it pertains to plznate.

I do understand that a reform does make sense, but to be honest, the punishment for the offense should be a 3 month ban and a trade with caution. It is a less than desirable thing to do and more people are going to do it now knowing that they won't lose their account and reputation permanently.

 

Rules are rules...


No matter how "valuable" he is, he broke a rule. Punishment for this rule is Permanent Banned. No one should be an exception.

 

You kids still preaching your corruption. It's getting old. The staff members are people, just people, and if you stop attacking them and try to see their side of things, maybe you'll realize that their actions are justified.

Plznate's ban reduction is a good thing, it was determined by majority staff AND members that the rule should be changed. Sythe then stepped in and said that he would apply it to Nate's situation. Deal with it, k?

 

Just cause the community was on his dick, doesnt mean hes an exception.

 

Don't be a faggot. He NEVER scammed anyone. He was an OMM, a UE, and a $100+ donator. Why would he throw that all away to scam somebody. Do you know how hard it is to become an OMM? Go look at the application.
