    Do not permanent ban scammers.

Ideally, no one would scam, and if they did, they'd all be removed easily without anyone losing anything.

However, we don't surf an ideal website. We have to find a common ground in which people who have made mistakes can make up for what they've done.

Right. A true scammer would just move on. Using an old account with a market ban for scamming thats been banned for a long time isn't worth it.

A market ban and do not trade rank solve the issue of them scamming, but it doesn't punish them for their egregious act. Scammers shouldn't have access to any part of the forums.

    For how long?

That's the question here. Their punishment should not be permanent.

How much punishment do they need to get for it? A perm ban is a extremely harsh punishment and is only used I would assume to protect members.

Who's to say the guy who scammed 5$ doesnt come back and scam 100$ Not a big chance of it happening but either way its good to just get rid of anyone who would be willing to steal from another person, They are a cancer to sythe.

You obviously didn't read the thread, just the title. Read the thread before you post.

I read the entire thread don't know how you could decide that i didnt read it by me posting a comment that was on topic and had the do with what he was posting about, but whatever. He's talking about reviewing scamming on a case by case basis, So that the person who scams 5$ wont recieve as much punishment as the person who stole 50$. But in my eyes a scammer is still a scammer, why should they be allowed to trade in this community when its been proven that they've stolen they dont deserve it.

We never said they'd be allowed to trade in the community, we've actually said they'd be so tied up in red tape they wouldn't be able to.

The reason this would be put into effect is so users that have scammed can serve their time, then come back and contribute in the way of posts/User Education/whatever to the forums. So they can try and change, and can be a part of the community even if they have made a mistake in the past.

The saying "Once a scammer, always a scammer" is not true at all.

You think it's a bit too harsh? Sorry but I totally disagree. They scam someone for 400 bucks, and what do they get? A ban. How long does it take to make another account? 5 mins. So they get free 400 bucks, yet keep all the privileges. I feel all we're doing is a giving them a slap on the wrist. We should come up with bit harsher punishment which includes scammers paying back all the money they scammed.

    Do not permanent ban scammers.

If you scam at all I think a perm ban is necessary.

Just want to throw this out there.

If you scam $20 off a poor man.
If you scam $200 off a rich man.

    Which is worse?

    Do not permanent ban scammers.

I disagree, and this is my reason

This all started after plznate's ban, now that Plznate's punishment was moved to a temp ban your trying to bring scamming down to a temp ban to?
At this rate what will be next?

    I dont support

NO support. People are just going to continue scamming and ban evading. All this would do is make them do it on the same account. If they get a TWC they will just make another account and do it again. I think they need to get into ip-banning the scammers so they don't keep coming back.

    Do not permanent ban scammers.

To be completely honest most scammers will just come back to Sythe to ban-evade anyways, so if there was something that stopped the countless amount of scammers coming back to register new accounts ( I guess I'd support that).

HOWEVER, for some people losing 10$ or even 20$ can be ALOT. They would expect a harsh punishment to those people that do it.
So if we could some how find a a punishment that is both harsh for the scammer and a punishment that satisfies the person actually being scammed THEN we could reach an agreement on how to deal with it.

On the other hand if the scammer was handed a market ban and a TWC they could just make another account to get around it... So I don't know if that would solve the problem or not...

That's just my view on it though :p

    Do not permanent ban scammers.

    Why would it be?

We aren't trying to stop scammers. You are not supporting this because it doesn't stop scammers? They would NOT be able to scam on the same account. They would have a market ban and a rank that says "Do Not Trade". Basically, the account would be known to all to be a scammer so, if they wanted to scam they would have to make another account and they would be caught eventually and banned anyways. This is not dangerous to members at all.

We aren't trying to stop scammers. If they evade their ban, they will just be banned. We are trying to allow those who genuinly have changed and just made a mistake to come back to Sythe if they choose to. Well, come back without being able to trade at all that is.
