    Starting school today

Ok so I'm starting my senior year in high school and I just feel like I'm not going anywhere with my life. I feel as if no matter what classes I take no colleges will take me because I was expelled for a semester last year. I'm taking 4 AP classes this year to try and make my resume look better but I honestly have no clue and I just feel as if my life is pointless currently. Any thoughts/ideas? I just typed this up as my breakfast is cooking before school starts today (First day).

Yes, actually I do mind. It is a long story and is irrelevant to my problem. If you truly want to know why I was expelled ask me in private (pm/msn) and I'll willingly tell you.

I fairly confident that a university would look at you being expelled, but that does not mean that won't accept you. If you continue with the same behavior however that may effect you. But all you really have to do from this point is do well in school and refrain from getting in trouble and you will have no problem getting into university. They are not going to decline you based on one mistake you made in the past. Simply take the courses you need for what you want to do (I recommend an academic path so you won't limit yourself) and try hard.

I guarantee it won't be as big of an effect as you think it will be : )

If you have outstanding grades you should get accepted into any college. At least that's how it is in Canada.. basically in Canada all the druggies go to college lol.

Btw are you aloud to take an extra year of highschool? I know many people take an extra year of HS in Canada and qualify as a "mature student."

I feel that most high schools tend to tell you that colleges look into things of that sort simply to just keep you from doing bad and out of trouble. Vice principles and teachers always threatened me saying that any form of punishment put on anyones permanent records will make the college of choice you're applying to look down on you.

If you're trying to get into a top school with a program that 40 people out of 400 make it, yeah maybe they will look at that stuff. If you're trying to apply to some state school or community college, I highly doubt being expelled will have little effect on if you get accepted to the school or not.

Colleges mostly just look at your transcripts, not your permanent record. So honestly theres nothing really to be that worried about IMO. I applied to the school I'm attending now as a joke because it was free. I thought my SAT scores were so low, I'd never get in - but I did. So don't feel that you're not good enough for any college - apply and hope for the best.

A year is more than enough time to turn your life around. Apply to as many colleges as you can, and make sure you meet the priority dead lines. That will increase your chances of getting into the college. Also, try to keep away from trouble. Best of luck to you and enjoy this last year while it lasts :)

Dude i know exactly what you're talking about. I got expelled from my highschool in my freshman year and had to go to an alternative school with a bunch of gangbangers and blacks. I got expelled from there and had to be homeschooled for a year. i was able to return to m y original school for my junior year, but i got kicked out again after almost 3 months. then i was homeschooled but i still got my diploma in the end and got into college and am doing okay.

My cousins friend got expelled for hacking into the school computers and he was dealt with in court, etc. He's in Brown University now, however, he was a straight A+ student, so...lolz. - Unless your grades are outstanding, I think it'll be best to take Junior College and transfer from there.

I remember feeling this same way when I was a senior. In all honesty, senior year is going to end up proving to be the most lackadaisical year in high school. I took two AP classes my senior year, and skipped about a day per week. I got about a 2.5 G.P.A. due to my laziness, but I passed my A.P. tests and got a 27 on my A.C.T's. I could get in to many colleges based on my ACT score alone, I just needed to get letters of recommendation. Don't stress the college thing too much, people applying for colleges tend to put so much stress into the "Will I get into this college or not?" aspect of it. They also tend to forget that colleges make money some way or another, so it is most likely you will get into one of your choices. Also, do NOT worry about your life right now. As senior year is an important year to get your things in order, it is also your last year. Live it up, have fun, and don't stress yourself out.
