Run an ip checker system

Hello guys and girls.

I am suggesting to install an ip checker system.

How this would work?

A system would search for ip's which are being used with multiple accounts, if found, they would be investigated and if they was created without a good reason, they would be banned.

To go through all ip's would take some time, so Administrators would need to make this scan every few weeks or atleast once a month.

We need to have the maximum security on this forum, the most popular online trading forums are doing this so we need to do this although, plus we will get less scam reports

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think Sythe already has an IP checker/ IP search.

 

Sythe has fixed his IP searching ability.

 

This search would go through users, so we would not have hiding evaders.

I am talking about an automated system, every staff member can search for a single ip adress, but I am talking about a system with goes through all the database.

 

If everyone can search for an ip address, it would be abused, not to mention the fact that random users would have access to other users IP address'. This would just lag the server.

No support, what we have is good enough.

And it would not lag a server, it needs to be done only once, twice a months, but how many scammers would be banned

 

You said "everyone", so I assumed you meant that any regular old user could.

Either way, you're suggesting 2 things here, that staff have to search it manually once or twice a month, and it be done automatically. Make up your mind.

Either way, Sythe already has an IP search, but I'm not sure who has access to it, I assume Globals and Admins.

 

They have to search it manualy, but they need to instal an automated system which would show all the users with the same ip adress, then they could investigate it and ban the bad guys, and then bye bye scammers/evaders

With this sytem we can ban scammers before they start to scam

 

Theres no way the server can handle a full database IP search, it would just take too much.

Leave well enough alone.

 

We can not leave this when so many people gets scammed, we do not need to scan a full database, only an active users database, thanks.

 

Active users is still a lot of people. You would be surprised at the number of different users that login within a month.

I'm not saying that this is a bad decision, im just saying that this may cause server lag, an admin will soon post with his decision anyway. This is my last post in this topic.

 

Yep, but after a few scans and hundreds of catched evaders, it will be easiers to scan and less scammers will try they luck

 

Not all people with more than one Sythe account use them for malicious purposes.

 

Yep, but if it is found, that not - ban. I am not saying to make an autoban, just an auto-search system.

 

best way to stop scamming on this sight is close it down way to many scammers this has to be by far have the most scammers

Which is why his idea suggests that when the system detects multiaccounts the staff investigate them manually, ban the ban evaders, and send pms or/and give TWC's to suspicious people.

Um. Do you know what finding all the accounts with one IP takes? It used to crash the server and I don't know if it still does.

Your suggesting that Sythe installs an automated system that finds EVERY single account that shares an IP? Do you know how many accounts that is? Firstly, the server would die. Secondly, you would need about 9843849384 people to look into them all, and lastly many many many people share an IP address yet have nothing to do with each other.

Btw I do have another account called 'thanatolgy'. When I came here I used my old private msn then tried to switch over to '[email protected]'. My switch over didn't really kick off so I'm still using my old msn of '[email protected]'. I made the account called thanatolgy so my msn would match my username.

Is it really needed to see if you have multiple accounts?

 

ban evaders have dynamic ips usually. this would not solve the problem. plus i think sythe already has one.
