What programs do you use to keep your computer running smooth?

I have been looking around for the best programs to keep my computer running smooth and clean. I have come across Auslogics BoostSpeed 5, which seems to be a very nice program, but I would like to know what other options there are.

Feel free to post your past and current experiences with computer maintenance programs.

For Mal-ware

ad-aware
spybot search and destroy

For virus

AVG

for firewall

either windows defender
or comodo

 

They don't have to be free. I'm willing to pay.

 

TuneUp Utilities and O&O Defrag. They do their job as long as your computer isn't cluttered with useless bs.

 

I've never once defragged, scanned or did anything like that since I reformatted my PC. You just have to know what you're doing on the internet and what you're doing to your computer. But if you're really are concerned, I suggest Malwarebytes and Spybot Search and Destroy with JKDefrag and CCleaner.

1337Neo brings up a good point. Internet security is a must. NoScript is a Firefox plugin that helps stop the majority of various scripts that may be harmful to your computer.

 

My family has a subscription to norton internet protection. It is not perfect however it does it's job better then most of my other anti-virus software has in the past. I like it because it screens websites and shows me the links that I am at risk if I click. I recommend this, but if you have verizon fios you can get free Mcafe virus protection for as long as your contract is.

AVG and CCleaner. CCleaner is a great program that cleans out your registry. Could speed your computer up some.

 

With my internet provider I use to get free mcafee, and now they changed to norton. So I have norton anti-virus. Also when browsing the internet use google chrome, or firefox. They are much less prone to viruses then internet explorer.

Always run CCleaner after you finished using your computer and run the registry check once in a while and everytime you uninstall a software.

 

I always use ccleaner and ad-aware, both are free and keep your computer virus free which in turn makes your computer faster.
