Well I'll make this short and to the point since I'm busy. With all of these MSN hackings going on I think we should make a rule that if there is no PM of any sort confirming a trade is happening or confirming identity, or any sort of post we should assume it isn't their MSN. I personally do not think we should hold someone who's MSN gets reverted to be responsible for the scam when the other user did not request a PM. I mean seriously it takes like 12 seconds to get a PM.

It would drastically reduce the number of people getting tricked and not to mention save the hacked member a lot of trouble.

    I support.

Good old Sythe's severs are a little too unreliable for this. Too many trades (and consequently scams) happen while Sythe is down and PMs are unusable.

Also what you will find often happening is that people will trade with a trusted user a few times, using PMs to verify in case of need for proof of scamming. Yet after a while they'll generally not bother with the PM because they have no fear of being scammed and thus believe they require no proof. Of course then the trusted user is hacked and people scammed.

The idea itself is a good one, I'm just unsure how many people will follow the new rule.

    1) don't trade while sythe is down
    2) Always request a PM whether you've dealt with them before

Example: I've traded with talkingtaco2 maybe 5-6 times and everytime I've gotten a PM from him. Because if for some reason he decides to scam me if I have no PM my case is just that much weaker.

I support 100%. MSN hacking is not hard to do, and pm'ing only takes a little bit of time to do, and can save your account.

I support I would love this idea, it's much harder to hack a sythe account than MSN.

Yeah thats what I'm trying to say. They would have to have your sythe password or have you keylogged since you can't recover sythe accounts.

I do not support this at all.

Anybody can claim their msn is hacked and scam somebody. And if they do get requested to send a pm all they have to say in it 'You wanted me to pm you?' so after he scams, he can claim that some random asked me to send him a pm. I can go into further detail if you like.

Then don't be an idiot and PM anyone who has asked for one. Ask for reasons why they want a PM etc. Also switch that around and think about all the people who get their MSN's reverted.

What if they asked me to pm you on msn just to make sure they have the real Cosrob97 on msn? Switch this around for the person who got scammed by the real person.

Yes those would be the rules, but you seem to be missing my point. A vast portion of the black market population is impatient and unwilling to wait until Sythe is up to trade. The same applies to the second point, with people being too lazy to PM over and over.

Yes, you could implement this and chances are it would stop a lot of scammers who are using hacked MSN addresses and a lot of people would follow the guidelines. But there would be many who still wouldn't, and would get scammed and yet be unable to make a report due to the new rules.

It's a little bit like how we say chat logs aren't proof (yet this is for different reasons), and I remember going through the RaS section and seeing what were quite obviously chat logs of someone getting scammed, yet we were powerless to do anything about it as it isn't sufficient proof (of course, they could have been faked, but 80% of the time you could just tell it was real).

As I said previously, the idea is good, all I'm saying is that it will be another hindrance to those who don't follow the rules (like those who fail to take screenies) and are legitimately scammed.
